Let's just say I have a little birdy down south who told me Greg and Creighton haven't always seen eye to eye on salary.

1. Creighton pays him just $1.37M. Iowa probably would, and could double that right out of gates.
2. 60 years old. Has another decade in him.
3. Chip on shoulder factor. ISU fail, he's an Iowan.
4. Instantly recharges fan base, probably brings over a player or two.
5. Seasoned, excellent coach with Midwest recruiting ties.

Really, that's pretty surprising. Why hasn't he left already?

The rumors on him and Creighton have me worried more about DeVries going to Creighton than McDermott coming here. They have been circulating about 2 weeks on this board.

Plus, he doesn't have any sons left to play here so what good is that?

I'd want Mcdermott on a workout plan.

He's a great coach, but he's older.

If he can coach and recruit with energy for 8 more years, he's a much more proven and solid bet than DeVries.

I think a lot of it would come down to his health.

Nah.. For whatever reason, he had no success at ISU. Four years, four losing records. Not sure why he did so poorly there, but he's doing much better at Creighton, obviously.
