Iowa is now guaranteed to finish at .500 in the B1G for the 6th straight year. No big deal you say? This is only the third time since 1931 that they were able to accomplish that feat. The only other time(s) was from 1950-1956 when they did it 7 years in a row.
They have also been at or above .500 in conference for 9 of the last 10 years, duplicating a feat only accomplished in 1959, 1988, 1989, 2022, and 2023.

So we are a solidly average program now, which is better than we have been for most of our history. Honestly, if it weren't for 1944-1946, 1952-1956, 1970 and 1986-1989, this would be the golden years of Iowa basketball. :(

Don’t forget 1980.
Good point, but I was just looking at B1G records and 10-8 really doesn't jump out at you. I realize Lester was hurt for much of the year and that changes things. If he was healthy, 79-82 would be another 'great period' in B1G play.

1979-83.

Not sure if I should be happy or sad after reading that?

Lute shared a title which was last Iowa conference title in 79 I believe. Iowa all time record in big10 play is about 0.500. frans record in big10 is around .501. he has had better stretch these last 5 years but otherside of he didn't bring home any hardware with two poy type players.
