I don't know if anyone cares but I hadn't seen this posted yet. ESPN 590 in Omaha who was broadcasting all Iowa games football and basketball is going Husker starting at the end of June.
This sucks for those of us out here. There was a time 5 years ago or so that an Iowa football game was preempted for a husker volleyball game on 1180. It was nice to have such a strong signal on this side of the state. Not to mention that the afternoon show would actually talk about something other than husker crap.
It would be interesting to see if 1620 the weaker sports signal in town goes Hawkeye because their afternoon guys have railed against Iowa of a long time.

Anyway, didn't know if anyone heard this or cared.

Dang that sucks. 590 has a HUGE broadcast signal. We were driving back from LaCrosse, WI and were looking for the Iowa basketball game a few weeks ago and tuned in to 590 in freaking Austin, MN.

Sioux City still has a Hawkeye station for NW Iowa but it was real nice having that 590 backup and that huge signal area.

You can get WHO with a little fuzz in Lincoln so I am guessing it is a little clearer in Omaha.
It was about 10 years ago so I don't know if the signal strength has changed, but when I lived in Baton Rouge Louisiana I could sometimes get WHO clear enough to listen.

Drive 80 a lot...very seldom can I pick up WHO west of Atlantic. Sometimes during certain atmospheric conditions but not that often. But most of the time Van and Bonnie are on so I don't try real hard.

1040 is clear channel radio, which if I am not mistaken means it's the only station broadcasting on 1040am in the country from a certain time period during the night.

It would be great if an FM station in Council Bluffs would pick up the games. I live in California and you can get Oakland Raider games on the FM station on the Central Coast, a few hundred miles away.

105.7 FM KNOD in Harlan carries the Hawks as does the weak signaled 1220 AM in Atlantic.

Because it is sacred with man-woman and child memories, just like the most Cornholers fans still live in'95.

Maybe for those in the immediate Omaha area, but there are plenty of affiliates around the state (and country for that matter) that carry Husker football. And this isn't the first time that KFAB has lost the contract to broadcast Husker sports.

590 made a deal that also includes broadcasting all men's basketball, all baseball, all women's basketball and all volleyball matches. KFAB only was willing to broadcast football, men's basketball and some baseball.
