Currently -20 in Monona county according to my thermometer. It was -24 when I got up to pee at 3am. I'm optimistic about breaking through -10 this afternoon. Things are looking up!

Just went out and blew the 5" of dry snow we got last night, it only took 10 mins to clean off both cars with the leaf blower. 16 here in sunny WPa.now.

Typically the middle of January to February in Iowa/midwest is colder than a wells diggers ass so we can handle it for wonderful spring, summer, and fall weather. Suck it up GIAOT. Not so much for those in the south whining about below 69 temps.

Less ice at the caps is consistent with a weaker jet stream which allows colder air to drift south into the plains.
