Tuesday 11/28 is "Giving Tuesday". Facebook and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation are matching gifts made that day up to $50,000 per charity. All you have to do is make your donation through the organization's Facebook page. Both Wrestling for Life and the Hawkeye Wrestling Club have "Donate" buttons on our respective Facebook pages which take you directly to our donation pages. However, you must use the Facebook portal for us to get the match.

But wait- there's more. You can create your own fundraiser for WFL and HWC on Tuesday. Create a post, share a video or picture and add a "Donate" button to your post. If you want you could even go live and create your own mini "telethon". The match limit for this type of fundraiser Is $1,000 per post. Don't dawdle. Once total donations reach $2,000,000 the matching stops. Make this the first thing you do Tuesday morning.

Go to https://donations.fb.com/givingtuesday/ for all of the information you will need.

I'm hoping for Wrestling for Life to raise $10,000 Tuesday and I bet Hawk fans can raise the entire $50,000 match limit in that one day for the Hawkeye Wrestling club. Once more we can prove that the Hawkeye Report cesspool and all Hawkeye wrestling fans are the best in the world.

Get ready...coming soon.

Done. BOOM! WFL is off and running on Giving Tuesday! Let’s do the same for the HWC!

Question — I don’t see the HWC when I go to #GivingTuesday on Facebook. Was very easy to donate to WFL through Giving Tuesday. Anyone have any ideas on giving to the HWC so that donations are matched? Kwood, sounds like you were able to get it done. Any tips?

Got mine in for WFL! Of course, I already donated my nickel for the year to HWC, so I skipped that one :(.

If anyone still has any loose change after WFL, look up Grover Rains Takedown Club on Facebook-I gotta get a new mat for the kids:)

Can someone clarify whether donations to the HWC will be matched by Giving Tuesday? I know donations to WFL will be matched, but don't know about the HWC. I just learned that charitable organizations had to apply for inclusion in the match program, and apparently quite a few weren't accepted, so not all charitable organizations' donations will be matched today. Just FYI to those who might be thinking that any donations to a 501(c)(3) organization will be matched today.

It says the nonprofit must collect donations directly through Facebook, not a 3rd-party site. It doesn't look like HWC is set up that way? The donate button on the HWC page redirects to their website.

Yep -- too bad. Would be great to get some clarification, but it doesn't look like donations to the HWC will be matched today. Bummer.

I just followed GG instructions in the first post above. Went to HWC Facebook page and hit their Donate button and it took me to all the info to fill out.

Guys/Gals-- we kinda flubbed on this one-- the process that was described to me a few days ago to get registered officially with facebook takes a bit of time..and I only discovered this on Sat. We are going through the process so we will be ready in the future.

Thanks!

I have been notified that the Gates Foundation matching funds ($2,000,000) have already been used up. However, Facebook's 5% processing fee will be waived on all donations made before midnight.

Oh - and by the way - MANY of these "big talkers" give. I doubt that there would be a Wrestling for Life without them.

Of course, I'm joking in the post above (although any Iowa fan is more than welcome to join in and donate). In all seriousness, though, the HWC and the Hawks need all of our support. It's the best way to leverage one of Iowa wrestling's biggest advantages over other clubs and programs -- our massive, passionate fan base. Some will give more and some will give less, of course, but if we all give something, we'll be unstoppable. Some of us can afford to give a whole bunch and some can afford less, but we can all afford to give something, and when that happens. . . BOOM!

Be looking for an enhanced automatic monthly donor program in the near future. It's gonna be cool, and it will be one of the keys to putting the HWC and the Hawks back on top of the heap.

I got mine done at 5:00 am.......so did it count as a match on your website? What time did they cut off the matching or do you know?

Guessing next year we need to go online just after midnight......right.......

matches started @ 7 ET. if I read correctly.

Edit- 7:00 central, 8 Eastern

Also curious as to whether mine was matched. Any idea on that, GG?

I'm trying to find out how to determine what was matched. I first saw a post at 10:30 that the matching was complete. Many people have been kind to Wrestling for Life today and I thank you all for that. Depending on what got matched and what didn't it has been a wonderful day.
