a change that would not bother nor surprise me

Polasek, in my opinion, was/is a decent OC. I would have thought this was the original plan when it was announced he was being hired. Was pretty surprised to find out BF was being moved to this spot and Polasek to the line. The results pretty much speak for themselves! Poor decisions made by, wait,,,,,!

Not going to happened. That would be considered a demotion and it would indeed hurt his reputation outside of the program. They could take away his pla calling and promote him to asst head coach or something to save face but again likely not gonna happen

How about Polasek has a tiny mic and BF has one tiny earbud that is connected to Polasek's mic. Polasek tells BF what to call, and then BF runs that play. Offense improves and BF is a hero.

Reputation saved!

Kilroy. First and foremost i want you to know you just went up multiple steps in my book. The fact you were willing to take off the glasses and at least think there is change that could result in improvement means you are atleast willing tonlook at it objectively.

To the staff: you know it's getting rough when Kilroy is thinking change might work.

Counting Brian, Iowa has 3 current or former OCs on the staff. I would like to think that 3 of them together could devise a scheme that would at the least would be less predictable. Unless of course KF has the final say and I believe we know the answer to that.

BF will be the OC until he moves along, is let o, or is elevated to HC. Jmho.

Why exactly does BF need to be our next HC? WTF has he proven?
His last name is Ferentz. That is all the qualification he needs.

I have said all along that Polasek should be our OC and not coaching the line, which he has NEVER done. Glad to see Kilroy coming around.

Exactly. The OL recruiting and development has declined over the years and the offense is actually somehow getting worse or at the very least not improving from the last guy.
if getting a 4* US Army AA Game player is declining and 4* OL Kallenberger by ESPN and Scout is declining not to mention getting the top 2 OL in the state of Iowa in the 19 class is declining 4* Miller by ESPN and 247, 4* OL Endres ranked #104 overall again if that is what you call declining you have a serious problem.

Wasn't it Baylor or K-state who had co-OC's for a while? I think it should be that way until BF can get his feet wet. I would settle for KOK or Poasick as Co-OC next year.

I think that is why KOK was hired to mentor BF. KOK is I think 65. give him a few years, then if the program has improved like the recruiting is. then I could see BF being named AHC with Polacek named the OC/QB Coach and a new OL Coach being named. this will continue the coaching stability,

Our best OL coach is coaching the defensive line.
oh really is that why Scherff who was coached by BR was the Outland Trophy winner and a 1st round draft pick, 4* OL Blythe was coached by BF and is in the NFL. walk on Croston was coached by BF and is in the NFL
C 4* Daniels was recruited by BF and was coached by BF for 2 years, your are the most clueless poster on here, this years OL Coach was Polasek a former OC.

There won't be any seismic changes IMO. Maybe consider, if anything, moving Reese back to OL and Polasek to DL? Nothing major.

This idea is better than going into the off season with no change.
There will be change - KOK will probably become Co-OC to try and salvage any chance of BF staying around. Polasek, if such an OL guru did a horrible job this year, 6 sacks Purdue had Saturday, I believe 3x not even a whiff at #11 as he be-lined to stanley.

I can not say I know Brian personally, but knowing the pride and cockiness that he sometimes displays, there is no way that BF would agree to that. Not saying it is a shitocky idea, I just think that it would not fly.

don't have to read as BF has only been on the Iowa staff since March of 2012, Morgan 0 Outland Trophy player, BF 1 Outland Trophy OL,
Sorry but Gallery was before Morgan.

Who was it that recruited Schreff to Iowa? If I remember right wasn't it Morgan who got him to come to Iowa??

Reeese Morgan has an eye for talent and he's the reason a lot of Iowa's NFL type players are successful. The guy has spotted more talent than BF ever could.

Why would you promote the OL coach that just gave up 6 sacks and the line/TE/Rbs quite often didn't know who they were supposed to block?

They need a fundamental change---recruit/develop/scheme an OL like WIsconsin. You get an OL that can block in run game and pass protect and play calling doesn't mattter as much. Drops don't matter as much because you got 6 yards on 1st down.

KOK-OC/QB coach/passing game coordinator
BF-OL coach/run game coordinator
Tim Polasek-Rb coach (something he has actual experience coaching).

I know none of this is going to happen.

You are saying that assistant coach Brian Ferentz would not agree to a staff adjustment and head coach Kirk Ferentz would bow to that? Brian Ferentz would leave his safety net at Iowa and get thrown in to the pack of assistant coaches hunting and praying for a job each year? Brian Ferentz could not leave Iowa and get a better job... for him.

Delay of game penalties all day long.

OP has a better chance of having this same screen name by next September than BF being demoted.

You can’t make this crap up.

Polasek is not a OL Guru, what is though is/was the OC from NDSU the team that had won 5 straight FCS Championships,
he is /was also in Just his 1st season as Iowa OL coach working with a OL that went thru 6 changes thru the 1st 6 games. Now his OL has settled down to these as starter's
LT RSFR Jackson
LG JR Render
C JR Daniels and he is 1st true FR to start on the OL in the last 15 years.
RG RSSR Welsh
RT FR Wirfs and he is just the 2nd true FR to start on the OL in the last 15 years.

not very long to judge Polaseks ability to coach the OL and just like Brain has been the OC since January less than a year EVER at the OC. TO MANY are having a knee jerk reaction to the job these 2 are doing.

its really sad how many are trying to act like they were perfect from year one of their jobs and try and act like they can do a better job.

Too many like you are willing to make every excuse in the book - these coaches may be in their first run at their current positions, but they are not GA's to college football. So are the coaches slow learners or slow teachers?
