A father pushes past his own LGBTQ bigotry as he raises a trans child

Great story. A parent being a parent. Nice. I’m all for people being who they are and making that decision as an adult; but do not agree with any medical intervention until they make that decision. It is strange to me the same side that argues a kid’s brain isn’t developed enough to commit an adult crime until 18, argues that the same kid’s brain is developed enough to know he or she should be a she or he.

Editing to say - if a young boy or girl wants to be trans during their youth, so be it, I hope they are safe and happy and my opinions admittedly come from zero experience. I just do not think hormones or medical procedures should be allowed until they can legally make their own decisions. Not saying it happens often; but, anywho doesn’t think a child can be persuaded into a thought is lying to themselves.

And apologies if the use of the word trans above is wrong. Not sure of that is the correct terminology for someone who hasn’t started an actual transition

I don't get how acknowledging someone's biological facts, when they seemingly don't, is bigoted?
Because they aren't facts.

It used to be accepted that black people were genetically inferior to white people. And if so how can you be racist? But now anybody who still claims that black people are inferior is indeed racist.

Same with women and intelligence. Gay people and sexuality. How can you be sexist or homophobic if it's biologically true?

Mother nature doesn't give two fvcks about your truths. She will create what she wants whether you approve or not.

I knew I like guys as a kid. I'm not trans, but now understand that the trans people I know felt similar experiences.

Mother Nature? By your own argument, isn’t that slightly a bigoted assumption? Probably should just say nature

On a more serious note, you can’t seriously think your comparisons above are close to someone being born with certain appendages? I mean, I applaud you bringing race and misogyny into this; but it isn’t even apples to figs, let alone oranges

If they had similar feelings, but are trans, does that mean you should be trans? Does it mean they should be gay? Or are these just feelings that people can have but the individual gets to decide what they want to be?

You did not have to have surgery or take hormones and yet you seem happy with how you turned out. Why do these kids have to get those treatments when they have similar feelings? How do you know they weren't meant to be gay, but the current culture pushed them to being trans.

Maybe they could avoid social bullying if they did not try to be the other sex. This was accomplished in other generations by being gay and cross dressing/ drag queens. The benefit here would be you sleep with the sex of your choice, you dress and act however you want but you don't need to have surgery or take hormones.

It was mentioned in one of the reports I linked that they have suspicions that most of these kids would turn out to be gay if they didn'tget affirmative care, but now they are turning trans. They said in a way it is like conversion therapy for gay kids.

In your experience, do you think gay people or trans people have a harder time fitting into society?

I'm not trying to be offensive here, so sorry if you take it that way. I'm curious what your take is on this.

Mother nature creates boys and girls... there's no spectrum of genders. Man and woman created a mess.
