A few observations from Rutgers Board

This pretty much encapsulates the one and only Al (and the thinness to which you allude).
I feel for him - I'm a fan of Philadelphia pro teams. To quote the great Herb Morrison while witnessing the greatest disaster in NJ history "oh, the humanity!"

I have to admit to being a bit of a Rutgers fan since I am friends with Joe Pollard, their volunteer assistant coach. Also, Wrestling for Life is once again working with RYou to get 50+ kids to a Scarlet Knight dual.

We did go from being the Birthplace of College Football to what some renamed The Abortion of College Football. I admit when I first heard that, I laughed--you can't explain your way out of something you behaved your way into. Gotta love the creative component to slamming other programs. Hopefully we'll dig ourselves out of the morass in football, and Al will lead the charge every step of the way. I the meantime we can all root for wrestling.

Hi, I'm in Cedar Grove(near Montclair) only 20 minutes south of Ridgewood (nice town !). My wife's cousins live in Ridgewood, hey, they just won Group 5 Football championship ! I played football and baseball in HS, grew up in Warren county in Hackettstown, near Blair Academy and P'burg HS, 2 HS powers. I followed my buddies around watching them wrestle, and got hooked. I was asked to come out to Wrestle in HS, being a decent upper weight guy, but was too tired from football and too lazy to cut weight , lol But we had wrestling intra mural tourny's in HS gym class and usually won my weight. I have a lot of respect for wrestlers as they work harder than all other sports and go through so much mental stress.

I notice Iowa does not wrestle Penn St or Ohio St this season. Damn, was looking forward to those matches. H well.

I'm very familiar with the area; I lived in NJ for 20 years, and having a kid in sports we got to know most of the different areas. I see you posting on the NJ high school board - I congratulate you on staying out of the pissing wars over there!

I managed to catch the Iowa / Rutgers match last year with my son, but like you said the Hawks aren't venturing very far from campus this year so I won't get to see them until nationals. I thought I might be putting people up in my basement but we moved nine months too early!
