About Trump

Harris could have held on to votes more just by publicly distancing herself from extrem le far left positions.

She didn’t. Many moderate democrats were pissed she didn’t. All she needed was a few percentage points in a few states and she wins.
However, the fact is she was a very far lefty. Defund the police, sex changes for people in prison, open border advocate.

Anyone with half a brain can see that Trump is a repugnant jackass who has no business being the President. Sadly, America is full of angry people that were left behind and the alternatives aren’t very inspiring.

Yes, and that's the issue here. This isn't about not liking the other candidate. Trump is uniquely repugnant and requires a unique reaction from those who understand it. This isn't even politics - it's about whether or not we can emotionally accept a uniquely vile and disgusting human representing us. And that's before we even get to the fact that he is absolutely willing to destroy our democracy if it serves his purpose.

In my lifetime there were two Presidents who I honestly did not like: Reagan and Dubya. But there was never a problem accepting them as President. This is different.

To those of you on the right -
This board is probably 2/3 left and 1/3 right. It's easy for you to take a little glee in Trump's victory after having to suffer through the attacks and name calling for the last 8 years. In truth, Trump deserved much of it, and many of his followers are rabid fans whom ignore all of Trumps flaws and behavior. I was horrified when Trump was nominated the first time, when he decided to run again, and was nominated again. There's really no need to mimic Trump and troll the left leaning posters. Trump still has his major flaws, and all of his ideas aren't good, and need to be evaluated individually on their own merit.

To those of you on the left -
Trump won. Yes, we know about January 6, the GA election interference, the payments to a porn star (that weren't illegal), classified documents, and about all of Trump's other faults. If anyone should forget, they will be reminded within 10 posts on any thread remotely supporting Trump. Trump won. None of the things you constantly mention will matter going forward. It is what it is. Failure to accept it serves no purpose, and is no different than Trump failing to accept the 2020 election results. Every Trump idea won't be bad, and a few might actually work. Evaluate each Trump decision on its own merit, and not automatically reject it, and call supporters of the idea stupid or MAGA. That serves no good purpose.

The daily trolls and pissing contests are tiresome. Yeah Trump lies, but he also tells the truth. Yeah, Democrats lie, but they also tell the truth. Criticize a distortion or lie, and OMG the poster must be a MAGA or flaming liberal, depending on which team the reader is on. Frankly, team politics is intellectually dishonest for most of you, assuming you are intelligent. For the rest of you playing team identity politics, you are just sheeple.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! Choose to be happy. Choose to make this earth a better place. Treat everyone with the same respect as if they just met you and bought you your favorite beverage. Endeavor to persevere.

"Yeah Trump lies, but he also tells the truth. Yeah, Democrats lie, but they also tell the truth. "

Pretending there is an equivalence here is beyond disingenuous. Anyone not willing to accept and admit the unique nature of Trump's dishonesty is not capable of holding a rational discussion on the subject.

The left isn't doing this. Absolutely nobody in a leadership position has lost their job after the failure in November. At least Republicans clean house every time they get their asses handed to them in an election. Democrats shouldn't take many lessons from how the Republicans run things but that is one they definitely need to adopt. If you fail at your job, you don't get to have that job anymore. Maybe that way the party wouldn't be run by a bunch of people all over the age of 70.

I agree that this is how things should go, and disagree that it is something the GOP is known for.

Bravo @Finance85 for at least trying. I read once "Blessed are the peacemakers."

What most of our angry, snarly, frothing friends on the left REFUSE to understand is many - or most - Trump voters don't like him either! AND YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS BEFORE. We, of course, like his policies better than the other side's. Simple as that.

Do we wish he was without spot, wrinkle, or flaw? Of course. But the lying left - "Joe's sharp as a tack, blah, blah" - holds no monopoly on virtue either.

Y'all can keep on with your daily devotionals of ranting of Trump's transgressions, both real and imagined - Hitler, fascist, threat to ... everything. These rituals must provide some benefit to you, primarily like making you feel better than someone else. That sentiment is rife hear.

But otherwise you're just wasting a lot of breath. I don't post a ton, but I'll try to be more civil too. Now go ahead and blast away!

It still blows my mind that folks put his "policies" ahead of his felonies and rape. Those aren't a "spot, wrinkle or flaw," those are things that ruin most peoples lives. But it made him more popular in his party. That speaks volumes about the people that "don't like him" and still voted for him.

That is all.

This sham they continue to sell about "not liking him," is absurd. They chose him from large primary fields in 2016 and 2024. They've had many options other than Trump for nearly a decade, but they keep choosing Trump. Republicans choose him. Not Democrats, not Independents, Republicans do. Stop with the "it's his policies" nonsense. If it was just about policy, Trump would have no control or sway whatsoever with the GOP. They don't just love Trump, they adore him.

Now ya see, you seem to want to believe it "made him more popular." Obviously for me and many others it did not. But I plugged my nose and voted for him vs - in my opinion - watching the country be driven over the the cliff.

Everyone, please stop ascribing false motives.

I believe the problem with liberals/Democrats isn't policy; it's the process that the Democratic Party uses to choose its candidates; and the mindset of Democrats when they vote for their candidate. For most of my life we nominated really abysmal candidates - Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, who may have been fine politicians when it comes to policy stances but were simply not the kind of people who excite people and make them want to vote.

They then had tremendous luck with truly exciting candidates in Clinton and Obama and ignored the fact that in a five election stretch the only time they lost was when they ran one of the most boring men alive; and went right back to nominating dull people who fail to motivate the base.

Governing is about policy, and I believe the Democratic Party excels at that. Campaigns is about motivating your base, and the Democratic Party is terrible at that. Trump is a truly horrible human being. Vile and stupid. But he, for whatever reason, motivates tens of millions of people to turn out for him. Kerry, Hillary, Biden, Harris? Nobody is clamoring to go to the polls and vote for them.
Yep. Democrats have to put up exciting candidates because the American public is too stupid to vote for a boring guy like Al Gore...lots of American service members would still be alive if Gore had been EXCITING back in 2000. Country full of morons.

Bull. Crap. Kamala, and Biden, are closer to Reagan than Trump and Project 2025 is.

And once again, the rape and felonies didn't keep you or 77 million (more than 2020) people from voting for him.

That says more about you than it does anything else. Rape is not a deal breaker. 30+ felonies is not a deal breaker even if it's someone you "don't like".

I appreciate the back and forth convo here, but "plugging your nose and voting for him" is why we are going to have a convicted felon rapist running this country. People like you chose party over morals.

This is usually the part where he tells us he's married and has a couple of daughters, and they also "held their nose" and voted for Trump. You know. Because rape and felonies are just details.

I do believe people like this exist. I don't believe for a second that such people are the majority of Republicans. Trump owns the GOP because the overwhelming majority of Republicans love him. Quit playing dumb.

Hey, you better be careful there, or you'll be writing a 15 mil dollar check too ;) .

The lawfare against Trump doesn't reflect well on your side either.

Yet you still voted for Kamala and the "Joe's sharp as a tack" party over Trump.

Go ahead and admit it, you mostly like the Democrats' policies better. No one will fault you for it ;).

I don't know that they love him. I do believe they fear him. He effectively uses intimidation within the party. A current example is Musk threatening to fund a candidate in a primary against any GOP Congress person who doesn't fall in line.

Sorry Finance…. Donald Trump is still everything my parents raised me not to be. He is a real POS human being and represents about 80% of what is wrong with the human race today. His greed and love of money are examples of what our Lord, Jesus Christ warned us about during His life. And yet this miserable sumbitch tries to profit from His work. Trump is a wrech.
Trump is everything my parents raised me not to be as well. Yet for some reason they’ve voted for him three times.

Thanks, FOXNews!!

I don't know the breakdown and neither do you, but you can rest assured I was wearing a clothespin on Nov 5th. Looked ridiculous as hell!

Your assessment is correct for the sitting GOP politicians. I'm talking about Republican voters throughout the country. They love Trump.

You chose "policies" over sexual assault, felonies and insurrection. Not having any dignity and moral compass looks far worse than a clothespin.

Go ahead and admit it, you mostly like the Democrats' policies better. No one will fault you for it ;).
We do like the policies of Democrats. Those policy preferences would not be enough to ever have me vote for someone like Donald Trump.

Lol, that was a pretty good comeback!

Had I voted Democrat, how would I have been assured they weren't gonna prank me again a la the Democrats' Big Lie, Joe's fitness hoax?

It's great that you think some folks not being honest about how sharp the mind is of an 82-year-old man was is on the same level of severity as sexual assault, paying off porn actresses, felony convictions, denying the results of an election and lauding the actions of Jan. 6 as being patriotic and reasonable. Those are very easy things to mistake.

Now tell me: How are you assured that Trump won't commit such offenses in the future?

I think the overwhelming majority of conservatives are pretty noncommittal on Trump the man,.. Him getting the nomination was all about his base, and him winning reelection was primarily about Democrat policies that a majority of voters no longer wanted.

If the "overwhelming majority" of conservatives were actually noncommittal on Trump, he wouldn't be the two-time party nominee and he wouldn't control the Republican party — both voters and those in D.C — for nearly a decade. You guys like Trump, want him to be the face of the party, and continually vote for him. Just own it. You look stupid continually pretending as though it's some coincidence or random chance that he is the undisputed leader of the GOP,

Incidentally one of those folks you mention was Kamala Harris. She was no more trustworthy with the sudden election-year religion she found with her new positions, either. She's as big a liar as they come. So I guess we couldn't be extremely certain with either lever we pulled?
