Akrum Wadley

I'd blame Urban Meyer and not Jesus for Tebow not being in the NFL. He rode this big strong kid who could run to a natty. What he didn't do was teach him footwork, throwing motion or delivery.
I appreciate the civil response , look at the backups in the nfl. Tebow has the intangibles of making those aground him play at a different level.
The two players he beat out when he took them to the playoffs were still in the league after he wasn’t. Lol
I’d take Tebow over half the starters in the NFL.
Lol

I’m a huge Wadley fan. He’ll make it. At this point I’m glad he can pick his own destination.

Didn’t blame Jesus, that would be a mistake. I blamed the pussy league for blackballing him because he believes in Jesus.

Who would you want leading your team, Charlie Lemon or Tebow, Sorgy or Tebow, Ponder or Tebow, give me a break.
If you can’t see the bias you’re blind as a bat.

Yep. Bad feeling he ain't gonna be drafted. Just a hunch, but teams are probably thinking "if he couldn't gain weight and strength at Iowa...".

Most RB'sin the NFL that are his height are 20 pounds heavier, if not more. And just as fast if not faster.
Yeah, but they can't stop on a dime, leave change, change directions and immediately be up to full speed like Akrum. Hard to imagine a back like Akrum not being drafted. He has many of the most exciting highlight reel TD runs in Hawkeye history. Neither Hawkeye fans or Cyclone fans will ever forget the catch and run in the last minute of last years game when he eluded and ran through/over about 7 clones on the way to the endzone to send the game to OT . That was a thing of beauty! I know there is a place in the NFL for Akrum.

I didn't accept his premise that all the RBs in the league are faster than him. He's not small and slow, he's slight and fast. He has football speed and Ronnie Harmon elusiveness. Who cares how much you weigh if no can get a grip on you.

Can’t wait to see Akrum prove em wrong! If we know one thing about this young man is that he’s a fighter and not a quitter.. there’s gonna be a spot in the NFL for him.

I feel bad for Wadley. I almost don't want him to get drafted now so that he can pick his destination.
While he does get to choose which teams to try out with as a free agent, its hard to make lemonade out of this. In the end the TEAMS still pick who's on the roster. Hopefully he can impress someone enough to provide some value, but its a long shot.

There is a reason why Tebow is not playing and it is not because of Jesus. Pure lack of talent needed to fit into an NFL type offense. When I watched him he was completely lost out there.

I hope, but I'm not sold. Yes he gets to pick which team to "ASK" if he can try out with them. Its not like that assure's him of anything. Its not like Wadley is an unknown or played at some school that none of these guys saw play. They have two and a half years of tape of him playing against some of the top schools in college football. Bowl game tape, Senior bowl workouts.. All of the teams sent reps to Iowa's pro day. Each team had at least a half a dozen chances to take a flyer on the guy, and no one pulled the trigger. I can't imagine what he's going to do at camp, that impresses someone beyond what they saw in games against teams like Michigan or OSU that have top level athletes. I have no idea what Akrums field of study at Iowa was, but I hope it was something worthwhile.

If Tebow was that damn good as a QB he would be in the league. The fact is the is not. He was a phenomenal football player, but he couldn’t throw it. He completed fewer than 50% of his passes when he led Denver to the playoffs. Let’s not forget he did that with an 8-8 record. The only reason Denver made the playoffs is because the entire AFC West was in shambles that year. They did beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs, but Tebow was 10/21 passing and to be honest, had that game been played in Pittsburgh (like it should have considering both teams’ records) it likely would have been a loss for Denver. He had other opportunities and didn’t show that he was capable of being an NFL qb. Didn’t he have offers to play another position but he refused because he wanted to be a QB? This has nothing to do with his beliefs and everything to do with his abysmal throwing mechanics (in a league where passing is king).

Justin Jackson was better than Akrum and he was drafted 7th round #251. The Chargers killed it in the draft. That secondary is going to be sick and Desmond King will be playing a big part in that.

It's the state of the RB position - they play the shortest lived careers because of wear and tear and their draft stock has decreased across the board. Akrum is a special talent. If he can get up to 200-205 and keep his wiggle, he can do big things in the league given the opportunity. Iowa taught him what he needs to do to be successful and that's a huge reflection on the coaches and how we do things around here.

He didn't test well and he is undersized, but it's impossible not to love his tape. Tennessee is a good spot to land. He will get to learn some things from Dion Lewis, who is a very similar back. Akrum Wadley is the poor man's version of Shady McCoy. Dion Lewis was the back that came after McCoy at Pitt.

Long shot at best. I like him did some great stuff at college level, not NFL stuff.

It’s tough to make a nfl roster drafted or not.. both Josey Jewell and Akrum Wadley are gonna have to Fight and prove and do a eye turning thing or two for the coaches at camp.. the nfl will chew u up and cut you from the roster real quick if you’re marginal in any way But they both have a shot and that’s a positive . We know they both have the heart.

Wadley isn't going away. Just get him the ball with some space, and he's going to light it up. Can't wait to watch him play.

If AW couldn't put on the pounds under Doyle, it's unlikely he will now. Too bad, that's the diff between him getting drafted and not. Now, it's all about finding the right fit. Hopefully Tennessee is that.

He was never caught from behind. Rewatch the games. He was explosively fast.

Oh, I agree, I was referring to the CBS Profile CBS Sports Staff...seems like there was some disinformation circulating about Akrum's explosiveness.

CBS Draft Prospect Outlook:

Twitchy, balanced runner who lacks acceleration and explosiveness through the second level. Small back severely lacking power. Plus vision and pass-catching skills.

Compared to :

NFL.COM Prospect Overview:

The highlight reel runs are full of jukes, cuts and missed tackles for this explosive runner, but his lack of size and concerns over his durability limit where teams will consider drafting him. Wadley's unique talent in creating unblocked yardage for himself is a huge plus and his ability to catch passes and return kicks should add to his value. Wadley may become a committee runner who can have a solid NFL career if he proves he can be a full-time third-down option.

But when it came down to the end, if a team had not selected a back by the end of the 4th round, it was practically all size-speed-athleticism picks...camp bodies. 4 backs were picked in the last two rounds that could not carry Akrum's jock strap. Lots of SEC, ACC backs ranked below Akrum under 5'10" but 15 lbs or more heavier...faster times in the 40, many with more yards per carry.

Too early to write that book. The NFL is a full-time job with millions on the line. Akrum will be at 200 in no time.

AW will be a good kick returner for a few years, assuming the NFL continues to allow kick offs. The pounding will probably kill him because he is slightly built. But, before that last hit AW will provide the fans and his team with some damn good returns.

Wadley, joke not drafted. Class act.
These nfl morons are nothing more than high school coaches with connections.
Case and point , Tim Tebow, really he’s not even a backup? Oh, I forgot, he’s an outspoken Christian. Doesn’t sit well with the satanic liberal nuts taking over the country.
Hyperbole much? A huge portion of the players in the league are bible thumpers ... so your argument is completely misinformed. It's a classic tactic of an "in-group" to paint themselves as a persecuted minority in order to rile-up their zealous followers. Bizarre tactic by American Christians ... because they're already far and away in the majority.

One more thing ... the bigger knock on Tebow was that while he was a pretty athletic and talented guy ... he was also a "system" QB. He didn't execute a pro-style O ... Urban and Co did all the thinking for him. So while Tebow already had some glaring issues as it related to mechanics ... the fact that he was a "gamer" within a well-conceived offensive system "hid" many of his football deficiencies. Arguably the biggest of all his deficiencies was that Tebow had a mediocre understanding of the game - thus explaining his poor wonderlic score - and also explaining why he couldn't stick as an NFL QB.
