Alabama -9 vs. MSU

MSU can stop the Bama run. This game is going to be another defensive battle. Whoever catches the most breaks on offense wins.

Just from watching these teams on tv...Alabama is definitely not unbeatable. Their rb is a horse for sure...but it did not seem like their passing game was particularly strong.

I like MSU'S chances here.

I don't. Alabama matches up well with traditional, non-spread offenses. Many on their board have noted this over time and dread playing option/spread offenses. The one BIG team that could take them down is OSU but they flat out blew it this year. I think both Clemson and Oklahoma's offenses pose more problems than MSU's for Alabama.

If this is true, take MSU in a heartbeat. Coker is not a good QB. If MSU shits down Henry (which they can), MSU will win easily.

The only thing I worry about is MSU's Dline. There were a number of points during the game in which Iowa's Oline was blowing them off the ball. Daniels seemed a little slow to get to the hole.

I think it can be attributed to the way Iowa's Oline plays. I believe Iowa's Oline is better than Alabama's.

Alabama's defensive backs have struggled in coverage. They have given up more big pass plays than any SEC team. I think MSU is good enough on defense to slow Alabama down, and they will get enough big plays down the field to put some points on the board.

Take the pts. If Cook gets his shoulder healthy, he's clearly better than Coker for bama.

That's one was to stop him

I think it will be a close game. Could see taking Bama if the spread were a lot smaller.

Praying that Sparty will win, though.

Take Sparty and the points. Henry not getting squat against that front. Hope Connor's shoulder is healed up. Talking heads said Sparty ol won't hold up. Not buying it. I wish we were in but we need to be all in hoping Sparty wins it all!

Oklahoma - 2.5 vs. Clemson per Bleacher Report

Would love to see Sparty's D stop Bama's run like no other. May actually take the points and put some money down on MSU.
That is an utterly ridiculous opening line. I'm not a gambler, but if I were, Id put a lot of money on MSU here, as I think they will beat Bama outright.

Crazy line.

I've seen both teams at least 5 times each. Alabama will struggle to run on a healthy MSU defense. MSU's secondary is their weakness, but I don't know if Coker is skilled enough to exploit it. Alabama has two really good receivers and an unbelievable defense. MSU will be lucky to score two touchdowns on Alabama.

13-10 MSU.

I just worry about MSU's secondary They are young and teams have exploited them this year.

Bama's defense is pretty good and their special teams always come up with a big play. IDK this one could go either way.

I think Alabama will wear MSU down just like we got worn down. The MSU defense will be on the field too long. Henry is best in the 4th quarter for that reason.

Don't gamble on games, thank god, but if I did I'd bet the farm on MSU. Alabama is pretty one dimensional on offense with mediocre QB play. MSU's front 7 is very good so I think they'll be able to stop the run. Also Bama has not faced a QB even close to Connor Cook and pretty impressed with RB Scott. The SEC has terrible QB play this year for the most part.

Coker is decent. He would be a top half QB in the Big Ten, but probably 6-7. His deal is much like Tommy Armstrong. Throw those deep balls to the athletic receivers and let them win the jump. He's also shown some good scrambling ability if you watched their games against Auburn and Florida.

He is obviously more mistake-prone than some recent Bama QBs though.

I'm a Bama fan and I think it is a great matchup of two very good and deserving teams. MSU definitely has an advantage a QB. MSU plays the same style of football as Bama. In these games Saban takes the running game away first. If he can rush only 4 and get pressure and contain the run then Cook will have a hard time. Also, the amount of talent on this defense is insane from a depth prospective. Cook will have to make some long pass plays because it is hard to drive the ball on Bama.

On the flip side Coker is going to need to play better for Bama to win. I don't believe Henry can beat MSU by himself. I don't like that point spread because it is too much and it just gives the MSU players more motivation. In my opinion it is a pick um.

I think Alabama wins by more. If MSU thought Iowa's D was good, wait until they see Alabama's. If MSU plays this same way, they may not score a point. Henry is a freak beast, and msu will ware down.

A sensible Bama fan?

Mortgage the house and put it on Bammer. Easy money.

The last time these two teams met, it was 49-7.

From what I've heard, 'Bama is pretty one-dimensional on offense. Sparty is a great run-defense. I don't see 'Bama putting up much if Sparty's defense is on their game.

I think the only concern for Sparty is 'Bama's defense. If Sparty can score, Sparty can win. I don't know how likely that is, since I haven't seen Alabama's defense much. I know they're good, but not how they compare to other defenses Sparty's faced and not enough specifics to guess how matchups will go.

They've been shredded on defense plenty of times this year. Where do people get this myth that MSU has such a great defense? They USED to have a great defense.

Couldn't agree more. I'd go so far as to say I'm absolutely sure Henry can't beat MSU by himself. He's a great back, but he'll need some holes, and MSU doesn't allow many. If Coker can't accomplish any sort of consistent passing attack and loosen up Sparty's D, MSU will make it a long day for Henry. If MSU is able to focus on shutting down the run without much of a downfield threat, Bama will struggle mightily to move the ball.

IMO, this one's pretty much a toss-up. Pretty much the same way I feel about Iowa-Stanford.

Gotta like MSU's chance here. If they can get a lick on Henry early in the runs and not let him loose into the backfield they have a good chance. MSU closes so well to the ball so if they respect and play their angles Henry shouldn't have the game he's had against the sec's version of defense.
