That is a big step up in salary. Considering how much he had to pay in taxes, agents, personal coaches, etc. he was probably living modestly in CA. Making 5 mil per year should allow him to sock away a bigger chunk (e.g. $1MM+ or approaching that).
Hopefully he can play for a number of years and that he saves/invests wisely.
