'America Last' health treaty

I don't have any ties or love for the article I posted. I posted this so we could discuss some of the points in the actual treaty. Seems like this would be very expensive for the USA and would drastically hurt innovation and revenue.

Ill start with this:
"4. In the event of a pandemic, the Parties: (a) will take appropriate measures to support time-bound waivers of intellectual property rights that can accelerate or scale up manufacturing of pandemic-related products during a pandemic, to the extent necessary to increase the availability and adequacy of affordable pandemic-related products"

"(c) shall encourage all holders of patents related to the production of pandemic-related products to waive, or manage as appropriate, payment of royalties by developing country manufacturers on the use, during the pandemic, of their technology for production of pandemicrelated products, and shall require, as appropriate, those that have received public financing for the development of pandemic-related products to do so;"

“pandemic-related products” means products that may be needed for pandemic prevention, preparedness, response and/or recovery, and which may include, without limitation, diagnostics, therapeutics, medicines, vaccines, personal protective equipment, syringes and oxygen;"

It's just not true that there needs to be a pure profit motive for medical innovation. That is just ideology. Much R&D is publicly funded. Cuba developed an effective COVID vaccine.

MOST medical innovations begin with basic science, arising from funding to universities and non-profits.

Some do come from business, but again much of the core work starts with university and government labs.

And Cuba's biotech industry is a very good example. One thing Castro got right, despite his socialist/authoritarian imposition

If the treaty restricts the United States and a pandemic happens, that treaty will be ignored in 10 minutes by the United States or people will be getting their guns out.

That’s a lot of “ If’ing “ but I am not worried about it.
I'm not so sure about that. Biden has already bought into most of the components of this treaty.

If you read the treaty, it really has very little to do with pandemic response and has more to do with implementing a seamless globalizaition plan.

I have no idea why DEI, climate change, One Health, 2030 objectives would be included if it was not more about implementing a bigger global agenda.

The global elite are working together to form 'stakeholder capitalism"
"Instead of corporations serving many stakeholders, in the multi-stakeholder model of global governance, corporations are promoted to being official stakeholders in global decision-making, while governments are relegated to being one of many stakeholders. In practice, corporations become the main stakeholders, while governments take a backseat role, and civil society is mainly window dressing."

Going to read the treaty myself. If the OPs linked article is true, that is pretty concerning (I have significant doubts it is…)

However, as others have said….I also believe in another pandemic….if we needed or may need the supplies the United States would ignore the treaty in the blink of an eye.

There would be violent protests in the streets if all this actually happened in a pandemic.

Why do all of your links on these topics from from uber-conservative propaganda websites?

Conservatives have no concept of altruism in any form. The world is a zero sum game for them. Success is only measured in finances.
You have a car? Travel by plane? Use AC? Spend money? Eat well? Have clean water? Drive a car?

Let’s audit your life and decide as a group how altruistic you conduct yourself?

Just because “one group” you agree with gets to have partial control of your life. Doesn’t mean the “next group” that gains control over your life will align with your politics.

If you read the treaty, it really has very little to do with pandemic response

Seems like an awful lot of "pandemic related" stuff in there. Little (if any) of what you've posted, however.

I cited 'opendemocracy' which is a left center source.

The goal of stakeholder capitalism is no secret. The covid pandemic is being used as a way to gain support for this.

I moved down to an 800 sq ft house, I moved 3 blocks from my office and walk most days, I use a reel mower, I eat almost no meat.

So yeah, I try to walk it.

Which isn't supporting your points that Biden is selling America Last here.

AGAIN: Care to address the actual sections in the treaty draft?
To be fair, Biden has not done anything with this treaty yet.
This is a draft put together by the WHO. The goal is that most nations will sign the treaty once it is finalized.

My goal is to bring awareness of the direction our country is moving. Following the direction of the WEF toward a global stakeholder capitalism.

The US is the top donor to the WHO and Bill Gates is number 2. It seems unlikely that the USA will not receive major pressure to sign this when its completed.

I wish I understood what the right feared about global stakeholder capitalism. Looks like global capitalism to me. Basically what we're already living under and have been for a long time now, only they now believe that time keeps going after this quarter's financials are due.

My goal is to bring awareness of the direction our country is moving.

That does not appear to be your goal here, when you're posting articles which dispense constant disinformation about the Treaty.

You're avoiding comment on the sections I'd bolded for you. Why is that?

A couple questions;

1) How do you see this playing out?

2) In the hypothetical that you've created, is that cost/lost opportunity more or less than the loss due to a pandemic shutting down global trade again?

I see this treaty getting implemented and then the USA will have to share all their technologies and resources with the underdeveloped nations without receiving adequate reimbursement for our resources.

Ultimately, this will decrease innovation in America. (in reality this is not the issue though, it is bigger than innovation)

The USA is in the process of willingly transferring our power and status to the global elites. Eventually they will control what we do in America once we give them all the power.

This treaty is only a very small piece of this transfer of power, but the idea that it has the potential to happen without Americans even voting on it is very scary to me.

I don't expect anyone to believe me on any of this, but it is all out there on the internet. It is not a coincidence that Biden vetoed the ESG investing. It is because ESG is one of the main components of the WEF.

If you trust the government without questions then disregard everything I say.
If you are concerned that Bill Gates, Google, Amazon, Facebook have gained large amounts of global power in the last 10 years, then look into it more.

If you or anyone wants more information, I am help.

Stakeholder Capitalism gives power to unelected people/corporations. Do your beliefs align with Bill Gates or Elon Musk? Do you believe they have earned the ability to make decisions for all americans? In stakeholder capitalism, they are appointed leaders who determine the direction of the government and country.

The US democracy is based on the idea that the people elect representitivs who will act and vote on their behalf. Stakeholder capitalism removes or at least limits the ability for our elected officials to act on our behalf.

That is just capitalism as we already live under. You're making a pretty left wing critique of capitalism. When you hear leftists saying we should tax billionaires out of existence, this is what they are talking about.

As far as this treaty goes, I believe this is written as a cover to gain support for their overall agenda which includes stakeholder capitalism. (that may sound conspiracy theoryish, but thats my opinion)

So the next question is; what does this mean for America? I would say that stakeholder capitalism means that we lose the democracy that has been 'run by the people'. Some might say that we are already past that point.

On a larger scale, when you sit at the top like America has been for so long, you should never give your power away or you risk being overtaken by someone who is hungry for power. Think China.

Its possible that the corporate elite and Biden have good intentions of 'saving the world' through DEI, fighting climate change, etc and have no malicious intent (although I dont buy into that thinking). In reality, I think this is weakening America and making us vulnerable to being overtaken by Russia or China.

Here is an article from a bias source, but the information is good. Read it with skepticism if you like and form your own opinions.

Im curious what your thoughts are on this article? I would enjoy a real discussion about it.

From that article:

The Great Reset aims to usher in a bewildering economic amalgam—Schwab’s stakeholder capitalism—which I have called “corporate socialism” and Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben has called “communist capitalism.”

This is right wingers with cold war patriotic education not understanding that they don't like capitalism that much. Global capitalism is capitalism. Capitalists accumulate capital and try to monopolize market. They use their wealth to wield political power. It is capitalism that you have a problem with.

I bet you would, but you're not going to have it with me. I do not know what those think tanks are up to, nor am i overly concerned.

Odd essay, when we did not have any "draconian lockdown measures".
China did.

In a thread about healthcare? I just think we have bigger things to worry about...as we continue to get scammed.
How about I agree we stuck at staying healthy, but it’s food and exercise problem more than medicine problem. I also am good going to Medicare for all, but everyone needs to pay. No ER visits for a fever of 99.7, only appropriate visits get paid.
