American Farmers

Yep, as long as the welfare checks come in on time.
Simple Google search:

No, not all states will be required to offer ethanol gasoline in 2025. The EPA has approved year-round sales of E15 (15% ethanol blend) in eight Midwestern states, starting in April 2025, but this does not mean all states will be required to do so.

I have a coworker who LOVES Kim Reynolds. Her husband is a pig farmer. They get their socialism from the feds and take part in Kim’s grift by sending her well off kids to private school. I think she loves knowing the rest of us are footing the bill for her kids’ college education while she speaks against paying off student loan payments. Effing hypocritical Republicans.

If you have livestock. Those that row crop have it pretty damn good. Many contract out the spraying and some more than that.

I would say dairy farming is the hardest. Twice a day everyday.

Anything with animals is just a big no from me. Just an insane headache it seems like.

For a couple of months a year maybe. Planting, spraying once or twice and then harvest.

...and once you get the sprayer/planter/combine equivalent of a Roomba running of GPS and sensors located in your fields, even that become practical zero work. Just need someone to start up and prep/gas the Roombas and everything's done for you...

@NorthernHawkeye - Is this gonna count against my $5000 DOGE payments?

We literally did the SAME THING during Trump's first administration w/ tariffs, and had to borrow even MORE money to bail farmers out. When the **** are Republicans going to figure out this is 100% a scam and dump this nonsense?

Yeah I ran into a farm worker one day buying an 18 pack of beer and I said “got the day off huh”? And he replied that he was buying it to sit in the combine and watch football all day while the machine ran up and down the field!! Crazy

They are like 99.9% white. Trump threw them to the curb and Chuckles of Iowa and Assley are trying to get Iowa an exemption from the tariffs. Should other countries actually sack up and play hardball, which might happen this time, where is all that corn and soybean going to go to? Should I build a silo? Magats chime in.

How many Trump branded pieces of shit will have 25% tariffs on them?

Here's a list:

Since 2006ish and ethanol, it actually has been quite profitable (not all years). Prior to that you are correct if talking about commodity corn/soy farming.

Subsidies and crop insurance took the risk away. Quite a deal. Vilsack was over a lot of profits. Trump and Biden were very kind to farmers if that's how you want to look at it.
So what you are saying no matter who is in office the huge factory Farmers are leeches to the government while ruining the environment?

Guess who the largest landowner is in Illinois, getting the majority of "farm subsidy benefits"?

Yup: "Elder Price and Elder Cunningham"

It’s because of the importance of the electoral college sine 2000 and the influence of farma which wants profitable farmers

Biden was mildly starting to put some real environmental protections in place but not on a real scale

Farms and how the ag vote became important. What is changing now is the massive shift of farmers to maga. I don’t really know but I’m guessing Trump with buy off farmers and move dollars in USDA from snap to farmers.

Local foods farmers though just had a major program cut that helped the poor get more healthy food.

The farmers of privilege are the commercial family farms producing commodities and use big farma

Why is Pharma farma so influential? Huge profit margin per unit of output.

Eliminate tracking for bird flu, and you'll get countries banning US imports because they cannot determine whether those imports are safe or not...
