more tariffs

We’ll see if other countries lower, or even eliminate, their tariffs against the U.S. ?

See post #86. The tariff rates that trump referenced aren't real. Is the administration too lazy to do the actual research or did they think nobody would bother to fact check them?

You realize the S&P was actually today, right? Maybe try getting your news from somewhere other than twitter.

Ronald. Put an X on this date of your calendar. Come think of it, you won't even have to. The effects of this won't be immediate but it will be memorable. The stock market is mercurial, unpredictable and not a barometer of the economic picture or mood, becoming less so in recent years,

All visions of Orange Turd's business brilliance are now finally put to rest. He is a convicted criminal looking forward to multiple state prosecutions and always has been and has paid huge costs as a fraudster and con man. His ignorance of basic business practice has put this government at dire financial risk.

Will do. Can you remind me again what will happen that will make this day so significant? Thanks in advance.

Who said anything about patents or China? This is tariffs across the board, we can stop pretending any of this is about China.
What is wrong about reciprocal tariffs? You want other countries to continously fk American producers?

The Conald has found a new grift... for tariff exemptions. Give him enough money and poof... you're business is exempt.

You are smart enough to know Trump lies. These tariffs are not reciprocal. They are a massive escalation.

Trump is spinning a narrative that just isn’t true, which should not surprise you. What Trump has done here is introduce a regressive consumption tax so he can give more tax breaks to the wealthy.

My husband was an IP attorney. He mainly did patents.

You can’t imagine the stuff in our house, because we often had one of the inventions. I liked the Misto the best. It was very useful.
I don't want the inventions I file for, in my home haha.

Unlike you folks, I know the tariff life. Ask Harley Davidson and their entry into India. If you want to buy an imported car in India, say a Cadillac or something not made in India, you pay a duty, i.e. tariff that essentially doubles the car's cost. This essentially restricts the market to American cars ( not made in India). If I was GM, I would be pissed. If you look at the rate tables, we are still retailing to only half their duty costs. Half. If I had been President, I would not have been that generous. Trump is being kind.

And solarhawk, man, you're a racist. Sad.

I don’t get the entire GOP going along with it without a peep. I have to think they are getting hit as well?
I spend most of my time on here these days critiquing the spineless weenies leading the Democratic party, but the story of the last 10 years is the complete disintegration and collapse of the Republican party into an authoritarian cult of personality.

The Rubios and all the others aren't just Quislings per the country, they're traitors to their own party. It's going to seem absurd by the early 2030's that in the mid 20's it was the Democrats who were having an existential crisis.

Once Trump is done with it and the Trump meth binge is over the Republican party is going to be in a shambles. All of these Republicans who went along with all the bullshit, culminating today in these insane tariff's better be Hooverized for the rest of their pathetic lives and careers. They'll hopefully get spit on when they try to walk down the street.

These tariffs are going to crush American consumers and hurt the American economy. If you don’t understand that then you know nothing about tariffs or economics. What Trump is doing is asinine. It is far and away more damaging to the US economy than just about any move I can think of since the Great Depression. I have been in the tech industry for nearly 30 years and have personally done business in 50 countries. Trade wars are never a good idea and the scale of this is unreal.

You are a smart guy and an expert in patent law and medical innovations, but maybe read a book on economics before claiming expertise on tariffs. We just instituted a massively regressive tax on the American consumer, the people in India will still pay more for the Harley, inflation will rise dramatically and it will take years for companies to build factories here. We import something like 48% of the economic value of goods purchased. You think we have the manpower (he’ll we are kicking hardworking people out), infrastructure, tooling, etc to build even an additional 10% capacity?

So we should be expecting an economic golden era then huh?

Harley pulled out of India. It became untenable. Others will do the same until some equilibrium is reached.
