Ohio rejects marijuana; Tea Party dude wins governorship of Kentucky; Virginia retains GOP senate, etc.

Republican view: Big wins affirm the rejection of establishment liberalism.
Democrat view: Low turnout, means nothing.

LC opinion: I think the Kentucky thing might actually mean something, since my understanding is that Obamacare and gay rights were fairly big issues.

Kentucky and Virginia are solid wins for the GOP.

The Ohio rejections of marijuana probably comes down to the rejection of the growing rights monopoly grab the supports tried to sneak thru.

The Republican winning in Kentucky is big. He ran on a platform of taking health insurance away from Kentuckians, and they seem to have agreed. He says he is going to shut down their exchange, which was a model for how the ACA should have been implemented. He is also going to withdraw expanded Medicaid enrollment. Since both of these were done by executive order, I assume they can be undone as well.

We will see how the people of Kentucky react when these changes are implemented.

I'm not sure Marijuanna has the full support of most dems yet. So of the 3 I would say that means the least.

Kentucky and Virginia I would say this means the GOP hasn't ceded these states to the dems yet.

The bottom line with Ohio is this: if you put a marijuana bill on the ballot and most marijuana advocacy groups won't even support it, it ain't gonna happen.

Another point about Virginia and the election. They had a turnout of just over 1.1 million voters yesterday. In 2012, the turnout was just under 4 million. Amazing how few people vote for the most important races, the ones that affect their lives most.

Why don't low-information voters turn out for mid-terms?

They did, look at the election results.
Don't ignore reality and please answer the question. Why do the populations that are under-educated and fail to meet the most simple economic minimums not come out on off-year elections?

Because there isn't as much media hype surrounding it as much as there is a presidential election.
They likely have no idea who's running, what they are running for and what powers and responsibilities that those offices actually carry with them.
