I don't think Kirk is going to get past those guys. By the way, look at the guys wiping sweat off and hanging their hands on their hips. I didn't know Speraw was so hard to defend!![]()
should have rocked the Dr J froHoly crap, Dom cut his hair! The off season is off to a great start!
Dom sure looks the part of a great player. I hope he can bounce back and have a great season. That would be a really nice redemption story.Holy crap, Dom cut his hair! The off season is off to a great start!

Right after that photo was taken, Speraw leaped and flipped over all of them, NBA Jam style, and flushed it.

That was the first thing I said he needed to do to change his senior season around. Now if he can gain some confidence, pound the boards and increase his defensive intensity, look out. He looks bigger so he needs to use his athleticism.Holy crap, Dom cut his hair! The off season is off to a great start!
If he just hits the court with intensity all the time he will blossom. Or Nunge was listening carefully?
Think the ship has sailed on Uhl. Every returning front court player is better than Uhl. Mobility athleticism and open floor defense...Baer and Wagner are better. Inside, Kreiner, Cook and Pemsyl are much better. I would be disappointed to see the younger better plays on the bench just to keep the 10 or 11 man rotation, like the Marble/McCabe/Basabe senior year. Someone's gotta sit and it really should be Uhl.
Cannot wait.
Dom better step it up if he wants to get his minutes. He's going to compete with Nunge and Wagner and for minutes at the 3/4.
Even if Moss exclusively plays the two there will plenty of competition for court time. I'd guess Garza, Kriener, and Pemsl at the 5. Cook at the 4 and Baer at the three. Moss starts at the 2 and J Bo at the point.
That leaves Nunge, Uhl, and Wagner to back up Cook/ Baer. If they both play 28-30 minutes there's only 20 minutes to go around IF Moss never plays the 3 and Pemsl/Kriener never play the 4. Dom's best bet for minutes are at the 3 offensively, but he's a better defender at the 4 IMO. Who ever is able to be the best defender at the 3 likely gets the majority of the back up time once league play starts.
Minutes will likely lead to a transfer or two after this year. If we can't find anyone who can defend the three (which is still a question mark for Baer, Dom, Wagner, and Nunge) then we've got a real log jam at the 4/5 and it will be almost impossible to keep everyone happy.
Knowing that Fran has offered a couple of 3/4 types for 2019 makes me think he has his doubts about who can defend the 3 too.

I think players on our roster who can defend an athletic scoring wing (with a three point shot) consist of athletic lengthy guys with lateral quickness like Dailey, Moss, Williams, and Uhl. Not saying that these guys are great defenders but they have the physical tools to make it happen.
Two excellent posts and exactly the best thing about this page. Much is so right about each of these thoughts. My opinion? The three is where the best 2/3 and 3/4 guys emerge from what is shaping up to be a battle royal for playing time. Length can defend, and in this case if a guy wants to play, he'd better be a defender.
Interesting way for Pete to put it but yes, @IowaHoops is going to be a problem next year.
Is that Kriener standing next to Dailey? If so, I would say Dailey has grown a bit!
Dailey was already 6'6" but I agree if Kreiner is truly 6'10" the picture angle makes Dailey look 6'8".
Dailey is the one player who i thought should have played more last year. He should have taken Christian Williams minutes once it was evident he was struggling mightily which he did. Dailey can do everything CW can defensively with his length and lateral quickness. Offensively he has a much better feel for the game, is a good passer and can shoot the 3 some. He can play the point some too if needed. Really hope Fran plays him more this season. It's not that I dislike CW but just think Dailey is the better basketball option.
If Dailey has any handles at all, he is going to be a VERY intriguing player. I remember from his highlight videos that his court awareness and passing appeared very solid. I am hoping he can be effective as a slasher, perhaps a Stacy Augmon type player. I’m not saying he is going to be a pro, but Augmon was a 6’7’’ lefty and could play the 1, 2 or 3 positions.

That's a great player comparison. I think Dailey is a little more on the offensive side and a little less on the defensive side than Augmon as I recall him being a really good defender.
We have seen so few real minutes of Dailey on the court, I just don't see how people are projecting him to be such a positive factor. I think there was a reason that the coaching staff wanted him to redshirt last season.
From Dailey's recent interviews, I get that he felt the potential to get on the court gave him more motivation to get better than a redshirt would have. Based on this, when Dailey gets some meaningful minutes, I expect he'll respond well and produce.Valid points and I do think the RS would have been beneficial for him last year due to lack of minutes. There was an expectation going into the season that CW would play well but in reality that was not the case. He cannot shoot the 3 ball and does not have the passing ability or overall feel for the game. Dailey can do these things and play D with his size/length and lateral quickness.
Give Dailey some good minutes and I'd bet money he will show well.
Is that a new grad transfer holding the ball?
