Dafney seems to get very little ink, but he looks good to me.
Might he be a surprise?
Or consigned to the dustbin of the Andrew Stone -Donny Nordmann Club, where members look great in public scrimmages, but rarely see the field.(?)

With his number 1, Easley on the sideline, its hard to tell. I have the feeling that for some odd reason, Smith, ISM and Fant will always be a little inconsistent catching the ball although the first two mentioned appeared a bit more confident. Fant was a big disappointment. Max Cooper was the most confident receiver on the field. A work in process indeed, but as a group, much improved. With Easley in the mix, I think the results will be much different.Check out @hawkeyegamefilm’s Tweet:
I think he's a guy who could really contribute with his size out there. I hope he shows enough to get out there. Yes he could very well surprise.Dafney seems to get very little ink, but he looks good to me.

Devonte Young was on the sideline hanging around Easley. Looked like Cedric Boswell was out as well.

Agree on Fant. For him being labelled our "receiving TE" he isnt as natural catching the ball as you would think. I remember a deep ball last year, the first one he and Stanley connected on iirc, where you could see him like fighting the ball in the air to bring it in. Dont get me wrong I'm a huge Noah fan but he drops more than he should also.
Dafney has been a special-teams ace on coverage teams. Strong kid who plays hard. Given that he's earning the trust of the coaches through special teams ... he may continue to see his role grow in other facets too. Who knows ... ?https://goo.gl/images/CB9VrD
I didnt know much about D. Dafney but a Google search shows this. 6-2 and looks the part.
Defaney did look good, he seemed to know what to to do when the ball was thrown his way and 42 Shaun Beyer too, for that matter. The receivers room has gotten much stronger.Dafney has been a special-teams ace on coverage teams. Strong kid who plays hard. Yes, and led the nation as well. Yes, he needs to work on his concentration, but if THAT guy is the one in the receiving core we need to worry about, we're in REALLY good shape......Didn't he set a record for TE-TD catches in his first year as a starter?
They tend to not last long....he isn't very big. That is what he knows from playing in high school but wearing the green everyday protects him. No one has lit him up in a couple years. That's good news about Mansell.
I much prefer a qb that isn't afraid to take off when he sees an opening, and has the athletic ability to do it.
"The team looked better this year than last" seems to be the cry across the BIG Spring games. Of the half dozen teams I watched many held out their big guns or they played sparingly thus making it difficult to get a read. Some teams sparkled with newcomers and some just added to the roster. As for what it is: looks like a re-run of last season. I don't (with the exception of a couple of upsets) see much change in the pecking order. Didn't see Wis play but they look best on paper...and Ohio St well they are Ohio State.I thought the team looked much better this year than last. The DL looked solid, DBs were solid and the D in general was excellent. Mansell looked good and had a great touch on his passes. Geno Stone played well and Hooker was great. Nice catch by Drew Cook.
And Iowa is one of the hardest teams to get any kind of a true read on. Some teams make the spring game into an event and try to wow spectators and media, while KF tries to run it as a controlled practice. If they didn't sign autographs for the onlookers you'd never know this wasn't just another practice."The team looked better this year than last" seems to be the cry across the BIG Spring games.
