the announcers were inferring to when Iowa kept throwing at the end of game?

I figured they were possibly looking for a TD shot to get Stan tied for the B1G record td passes in a game. That crew is amateurish at times and their stats person likely clueless of the record.

The only thing I could possibly even think of is that Bell was in attendance and they were trying to set the tone.

I thought it was all made up by the commentators.

When you aren't looking at any automatics, or signature big wins on the schedule, style points matter. I don't think that is anything Ferentz would ever do however, so the obvious thought is that Stanley was still in, and both teams were still playing. No need for a reason beyond that.

I just think it was so un-Ferentz like that they and everyone started to speculate why KF would be passing deep when he would traditionally just run out the clock

I think the stereotypical Kirk Ferentz is gone or in the process of leaving. I think it's apparent that Brian Ferentz has been given a lot of latitude and this is quickly becoming his team, with his goals and vision. Just the amount of risk being taken and attack mentality is so unlike 18 years of Kirk Ferentz.

The first pass was an audible to the pass, it was supposed to be a run. It made sense because it was one on one coverage on the outside and they were loading up against the run.

The 2nd pass was more of a tit for tat because the Indiana coach just didn't want the game to end... if he took the penalty Iowa would have taken a knee.

They threw the ball to run the clock out and to eliminate any freak injury to a running back or lineman. Don’t read anything into it.

Why would you not read something into it? So un-KF like: typically, #2 QB would have been in for handoffs and then victory formation. Instead going long for number 7. Recruiting Indiana? Loved it though. Brian influence?

I think he kept throwing to show Bell they could pass the ball. Or to get Stanley his 7th touchdown. I was hoping they'd give Young some carries to get him 100 on the day. Could've had a 300 yard passer, two 100 yard tight ends and a 100 yard rusher.
Neither of those things are in the Kirk playbook. (Bell or Stanley references)

Brian has me excited about the future of Iowa football. All the fundamentals, discipline and integrity of his father, with youthful fire and less care given to not ruffling feathers. Assuming he takes over the program someday, we’re going to be in good hands.

He learned a lot from Bill Belichek and the New England Patriots.

He's learned a lot from his dad.

Its gonna be interesting to see how this all shakes out (when does KF retire? Does Brian stay until then?, etc).
