AOC asked her followers who split their ballots either for Trump/her or Trump/downballot Dem to explain why and posted the replies

I have not been a fan AOC in the past but this is a very impressive and thoughtful approach by her. kudos to her for acting like an adult and trying to get to the bottom of what happened instead of slinging arrows.
You're assuming she gives a shit about all the responses. It could actually be nothing more than smoke and mirrors, one never knows with politicians.

I've said it many times... Trump had the charisma and authenticity -- he wasn't canned, he winged it -- to connect with people, with the working class, regardless their race.

Bernie had that. Clinton had that. Obama had that to an extent -- and was just impressive as a speaker period.

I think you have to find one of those people to win back more of the working class share. Republicans are teetering on owning this demographic.
This is what is so insane.

Let's say you run a successful business with multiple branches.

Would you hire the lunatic who has no plan and wings it - and also fails the background check - to run one of your branches? Or would you hire the boring, bureaucratic, non-criminal to manage it?

I read every single one of the responses and am aghast at how stupefyingly ignorant and clueless they are.

And this is why you will remain terrible at predicting politics. You dismiss and ridicule people who simply have a differing view. Instead of trying to understand the motivations behind their views.

They are beneath you, your arrogance and lack of curiosity are your flaws.

Horseshit
So, you think if OBAMA (the most beloved and transformational political figure since Lincoln) lost to Mitt, we wouldn't be seeing the same kind of shit where the left is losing their minds blaming half the country for what they believe is the inevitable downfall of the USA? Horseshit, indeed. Way too many of you are blessed with having conveniently terrible memories.

Well, the people in Penna. did one thing right in the election, they kept the dems in charge of the state House and Senate and Pa, Supreme court. And the dems could possibly keep the senate seat as we still have over 100k votes to count.

I think you have to listen to everyone. The D party was the party of the working class. Now, besides a few, it's the party of wine and cheese.
All of you remember the shit heat I got from dems on here for supporting Sanders.

You can't win in a vacuum or echo chamber.

More of the same.
The American electorate just put a criminal rapist in the White House, one who can barely read and mimic giving oral sex to a microphone and throws ketchup at the wall when he is angry.

There's no way in hell you will get me to say that American voters aren't morons.

You have a point - remember when Hillary Clinton lost and we insane Democrats marched on Washington D.C. and beat the shit out of cops and swarmed the Capitol?

Yes, there would be the same level of discontent if Mitt was a convicted felon, rapist, showed nepotism, tried to overthrow the government, failed business man, etc. etc. ad nauseam.

Look I wasn't happy when Bush beat Gore, or Kerry losing but it is what it is. I think most of the left can't get over the fact that we elected a guy I wouldn't let my daughter be alone with or a guy I would ever venture into business with. The guy is a crook. At least if Mitt were elected I would disagree with his policies but never would I question if he was doing what he thought was right for the country.

Yes. I absolutely remember that happening. Holy shit. Really? You don't remember all of the crazy people who marched on DC because all of the women were going to be pulled out of their homes and shot. They threw on their pussy hats and the insane Democrats marched on DC and a lot of other cities on January 21, 2017. And yes, there was also violence on that day. 6 Cops injured by protestors at Trump's inauguration.

Like I said, how blessed you are to have such a terrible memory. Nice self-pwn.

Six police officers were injured and 217 protesters arrested Friday after a morning of peaceful protests and coordinated disruptions of Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony gave way to ugly street clashes in downtown Washington.

Of all the ones voting (or not voting) against self interests, the pro Palestinian ones are going to I think fare the worst. Just an amazing example of lack of any sort of effort to read up on the subject and put some critical analysis in place. They are going to scrape Gaza into the sea and do something else there.
agree but it was so obvious that everyone had to know this (scraping of gaza) would happen going in. so i have to surmise that whoever talked these people into voting against the dems had no issues throwing palestinians under the bus (pretty much literally) to demonstrate just how completely they own this voting demographic so that next time around and perhaps for perpetuity their demands get met. basically deliberately lost this battle to win a future war. scary and brutal but perhaps effective.

There's something different here and I can't quite figure it out. Hmm...

Their demands will never be met. There are more votes to the right of current Dems than there are to the left. When Kamala didn’t pick Shapiro she alienated tens of thousands of suburban Jews in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

The Muslims who voted for the Muslim travel ban guy are going to be the ultimate FAFO demographic along with the “he’ll only report the bad illegals” crowd.

Would you at that,

Apparently we don't much like technocrats for president in the US. I made another post about it, but if you go back to 1980 the more charismatic candidate basically wins every election. And in recent years we've definitely been on a change kick

Yeah...so delusional. But not delusional enough to do a complete memory wipe of violent ass holes attacking police while protesting an inaugruation.

D.C. Interim Police Chief Peter Newsham said officers arrested 217 people in connection with protests that turned violent and caused “significant damage to a number of blocks in our city.” He said the department is investigating whether officers handling the protests deployed either flash-bang or percussion grenades — used to disorient people in crowds — and he said that protesters had their own.

Feel free to include all pics and compare the details. Totes the same. Both sides and all that. lol
Why don't you read torbee's comment and tell me how exactly I was incorrect in my response? Here, I'll help you. He said, "remember when Hillary Clinton lost and we insane Democrats marched on Washington D.C. and beat the shit out of cops and swarmed the Capitol?"

Well...it 100% happened and I provided plenty of links. Is it the same as 1/6? No. But it absolutely happened. DC was marched on by a half a million nutbags. Insane lunatics put on pussy hats, burned Trump in effigy. Cops were attacked and injured. But feel free to continue to pretend that shit never happened.

Like I have said several times, I understand Republicans not being a fan of hers but she really has proven she cares about people, even those who don't like her, and is a very good human being. We need more of those in Congress.

As a Conservative, I agree. First evidence I’ve seen from the left trying to understand the voters rather than blame them. For that, she deserves some respect.

Judging by the frequency that arrogance is given as a reason for voting against democrats, maybe the DNC needs to actually get dumber(or simple if that's less offensive to the reactionaries) to find success?
So all of this is attributable to “dumbness”??
🙄

AOC knows what she's doing. Unlike other figures on the left, she sees this as an opportunity, not a crisis.

What's coming after Trump's hard shift to the hard right is going to be bad.

Everything has a natural consequence. The natural consequence of this election is going to be an eventual swing from the masuline hard right national populism to a feminist hard left social populism.

People are going to blame "the wealthy" like Musk, Thiel, Bezos, etc, and people at the center of "bro culture".

AOC's very media savvy and is well positioned to capture the social populism anger that will emerge after the Trump policies all blow up. AOC probably has the best chance of winning in 2028.
Um. No. I give her credit for effort on a somewhat reflective election post mortem but she won’t win in 28.

Solid work shoehorning Mitt Romney into the thread. You're doing great.

Yeah, these seem like sane, stable, intelligent people for sure 😂

Torbee, I completely agree with you but lots of people are in financial distress. That doesn't apply to you or me but it's ongoing. In some senses, this is a reactionary vote regardless of the quality of the candidates and the intelligence of the electorate. Kamala had 107 days to differentiate herself from Biden. That's a nearly impossible task even if people were happy. If Joe had any flaw, he would have noticed the economic recovery benefited those making over 100k and not the average Joe or Jane. We, as democrats, should learn.
