It's possible. But my guess is a departure would open up a spot for a 2017 or 2018 recruit. Those classes will have quality but be pretty small without a transfer or 2.I wouldn't close the book on 2016 yet. My guess is Fran is watching some recruits just in case there is a transfer in the spring.
Duling's vid impressed me too And1Hawk. I thought I read in July that he was supposed to visit a month later in August. But nothing materialized. I wonder if he's still planning a visit or what happened? Maybe he got some OSU interest? Maybe Fran thought Negron or Goodwin were better fits?I have my fingers crossed on 2017 6-7 guard BJ Dulling out of Ohio. Not highly rated but an athletic freak. There's something about him that screams major potential and a classic under the radar Fran recruit. Probably wishful thinking on my part but check out his video.

The most likely transfer candidate ...... sorry, but it is Brady Ellingson. He is going to have to be a deadly shooter this season to see significant playing as he seems like a catch and shoot guy with lesser physical attributes than Hutton, Moss or Fleming. Jordan Bohannon sounds like a good 3 point shooter as well.
I am not calling him (Brady) out because I dislike the guy, but why would Fran be offering 2017 HS prospect Jordan Goodwin (Athletic Combo guard @6'3") with the depth of this roster without some reservations of an opening. The new shot clock at 30 seconds ( watch it move to 25 in two years). Faster game quicker decisions and actions. Brady may not see much time this year with Jok, Fleming, Hutton and Moss coming on hard. And with regards to Connor Mc's development, he may be PG is Iowa High school hoops but at 6'5" probably not a college PG but more of a SG/SF so Brady looks more like a transfer candidate. Wieskamp will probably be over 6'6" so SF is probably his area.
.
If I am wrong , I apologize but this may be the fallback plan Fran is seeing.
I hate to see people speculate on possible transfers. It just seems selfish of us as fans to wish or want these guys to move on so we can get the next best prospect into the fold. Not saying you're forcing this kid out, just that we as fans can be fickle as all get out. Transfers happen but hopefully, they don't. You never know, maybe Ellingson can be a Spike Albrecht type guy who isn't spectacular but can have games where he basically carries his team for a while in a clutch situation. Albrecht sure doesn't pass the eye test to me but he can ball. If Ellingson has a similar career I think that would be great.
I think people are too caught up in positions.
Don't know for a fact but wouldn't shock me if he keeps playing really well. Shot 50% from 3 last summer in aau.you mentioned Lane is possibly getting an Iowa offer...do you know this as fact or speculating.

Connor will play primarily at the point.

Every one of the newbies has an attractive upside. That's why they all have their defenders. However, the guys that have exceptional reports create less PT for the others if they carry that into the regular season. On a senior-laden team, that can mean hardly any PT at all. A lot of kids don't have the patience for that anymore. But teams like OSU manage to stockpile talent with little or no PT and still retain them so it's not unheard of.Spike and Brady are two different kinds of guards. Spike played backup to Trey Burke at the point. Brady is more of a shooting guard. Like I said, I was not trying to be cruel or "CREANING HOUSE" with Brady's name as I hope all Hawkeye recruits do well but it was the pink elephant in this room. And there only one basketball on the floor during a game (I am told ) .
Agree, seems very mean spirited to do. You have to believe players and recruits read these forums. He hasn't shown us what he has. I did see a picture of him a couple months ago and body type wise he reminded me of Adam Haluska.I hate to see people speculate on possible transfers. This will remain to be seen as Connor is a very good passer and scorer but quickest and solid dribble drive penetration that a true PG must have may be lacking. Connor will probably see lots of action when teams want to press and hack where he can help distribute and shoot free throw late in games (Best hands team). Not doubting Connor's ability to lead as he might be a great floor leader as his father's teaching have had a long time to be deeply ingrained into Connor's mind.
I figured Ellingson would get spot duty when we needed a shooter and may develop into a more complete player down the road. Even in basketball, there is a system and players can develop. You can't have enough shooters. That being said, there is nothing I have seen in his limited duty that would make me think he his more athletic than JO. Not that JO was super athletic, but BE isn't either.I saw a couple of lists naming him as one of the best 3 point shooters in the 2014 class coming in. He appears to be more athletic than a guy like Josh Oglesby, so that wouldn't limit him to simply being a shooting specialist.
I think in some instances, like a Kyle Meyer or Pat Ingram situation, it's easier to speculate on a possible transfer based on playing time, but when it's a bunch of guys who haven't played yet, we don't really know what's happening in practice or how minutes will be split.
