Are they seriously not going to air the UNI/IA Game on TV?

Then again, I think its pretty ridiculous we don't play Drake and UNI annually home and away. I've been advocating the two-day deal ever since this mess was proposed.

I understand the financial angles. However, I still like the home-and-home for everybody. For many years, ISU and Drake played home-and-home every year -- that is, two games a year -- and ISU played SCI (now UNI) every so often. Iowa refused to play ISU, played Drake only occasionally and I don't think ever played SCI. These were the days when Drake was arguably the best basketball program in the state, with Maury John, and Norm Stewart was coaching at Cedar Falls.

It probably would have continued had UNI not used their pet referees in that band box up there to engineer a royal screw job.

Wrong. I watched the game and then re-watched it and this is just ugly Iowa fan whining. Let's call it like it is, UNI humbled Iowa by double digits and then Fran took his ball and went home, never to return. End of story. It's sad because in the last 14 games against each other, the Hawks and Panthers are 7-7.

I'm a UNI fan but it was horrible. Higgins and Boroski got sucked into the home crowd and they were anticipating call. That said, it happens all the time.

Fran also didn't have a great experience in CF when he came with Siena. He was T'd up then too. He's human, I'm guessing he had a bad taste in his mouth. He's 3-3 against UNI as a coach so it's not like he's getting owned.

This is incorrect. There is no way you can say there was no bias towards the home crowd. The flops alone that the refs were allowing were terrible. Iowa could not breathe on UNI without getting called for a foul. Now I will agree that Iowa let it get to them and handled it terribly, but to say the refs called this game well and Hawkeye fans are just whining for no reason is delusional. Here is a refresher for you.

What a waste of time that was. I lost interest after only agreeing with you that's Basabe didn't walk. Thanks for making my point and reminding me why I root for UNI now when they play the Hawks (whiny Iowa fans and Fran pushed me there as a UNI alumn).
 
What i don't get is that the BTN schedule for saturday is a joke. Maryland Eastern Shore vs. Michigan. Northwestern vs. Dayton. These teams are better draws than Iowa/UNI?
Indiana vs. Butler is a good game, the other two suck!
You mean to tell me that BTN can't send a crew to Des Moines, but can send one to Ann Arbor?
BTN is a POS!
I'm old enough to remember when all the Iowa BB games were on tv.
Now, I get this streaming crap that I have to pay for. Good times!

That's what's wrong with the whole contract with ESPN.
They don't pick Indiana/Butler two ranked teams, so
BTN grabs that game and ends up screwing us!
Why don't we tell ESPN to go scratch. BTN should have first choice.
I'm sure Fox, CBS would be interested in picking up some games.
 
Honestly, if Iowa and it's fans don't want to play at UNI anymore, then I'm glad they get crap like this (not having the game on tv).
 
I had forgotten that UNI actually sent a freaking rent-a-cop out on the court to physically escort Fran off the court as if he was some sort of common criminal. What bs and what disrespect. I sure don't blame Fran for never going back to that crackerbox again.

Actually it was a real cop. And I don't blame fran one bit for feeling disrespected. After he was T'd up in The Siena game there I felt like this one was almost planned.

I will say that Fran and Jake get along very well though particularly because of Jake's commitment to coaches versus Cancer so now that Troy Dannen is gone perhaps they revisit a home and home series in the future. Frans respect for Jake is evident even on the recruiting trail.

If I remember right, that was always a bone of contention with Iowa fans as the games at UNI were only telecast on the UNI network and were never shown outside of Cedar Falls. Thus the Iowa fan that didn't have a ticket to the game had only radio to listen to which was BS. It was only after this game that most of us saw the homer calls that happened that night in highlights that were shown after the fact....

The police escort was so bush leugue it was pitiful. The homer officiating was bad but happens. I'll never will pay for a UNI BB game after that display.

Here is the thing. Iowa doesn't owe uni a damn thing. We sure don't owe them a road game to their house. Don't like it? Back out of the contract uni and watch how little we care. The reason isu and iowa can do what they have done is because uni and Drake don't matter. So run along and stomp your foot.

And that game at uni was pure nonsense and simply drove home how little we don't need to do anything for Drake or for uni. You aren't in the same level as us and never will be so why exactly should we help you with your gate or your recruiting profile. We shouldn't.

In decreasing budgets the entire athletic department at uni should probably go away.

I'd honestly be fine if we never played UNI again, if for no other reason than to listen to their whiny fans bitch and moan about it.
