Argentina elects far-right libertarian who wields a chainsaw during campaign rallies....

Okay—I’ve watched a view more this guy’s videos. I’m going to have to retract my initial approval.

Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, but I can’t deal with heads-of-state who are unable to communicate without constantly yelling and screaming and saying edgelord things.

How about Canada?

Here's an interesting list. Some on the list fly against my preconceptions, but it's someplace to start.

Most (all?) of those above our #25 ranking on the list are more socialistic, and many are more democratic.

In Canada The tax rates are: 15%, 20.5%, 26%, 29%, and 33%. They are 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35% and 37% in the U.S.

In the Nordic countries however, the tax rates are higher with Denmark at 55.56%, Finland at 51.25%, Iceland at 46.22%, Norway at 47.2% and Sweden at 57%

Canada is way more comparable with the US than Scandinavia.

The last time I checked, we were talking about corruption.

As for taxes, who do you think benefits from their taxes more, the average American or the average Scandinavian?

The rich manage quite well wherever they are, but what about the rest? What about the poor, the infirm, the elderly...?

Islamic warlords running a feudal society isn’t a ‘libertarian experiment’ to anyone but idiots who understand neither word, I think.
Lack of government interference. Free markets. No socialist protections - aka "regulations." Privatized security for those with money. Clean water for those with money. Etc., etc.

Who cares what religion they follow? That's a smokescreen.

Well, the US is not socialism-free.
Plenty of socialism for corporations and the rich and powerful. With increasingly bipartisan support, I'm sorry to say.

As for "real" socialism, no, we're not socialism-free. But we're working on it. When we resume Republican One Party Rule, I expect great strides toward the victory of vulture capitalism.

Islam is their government.

No wonder you’re so confused on this.

Sharia courts determine your rights by their tribal/religious customs, Western notions of individual liberty (rights of conscience and property) do not exist as developed in the West (and are responsible for the West’s development).

Oh brother. Who cares about that stuff. Those people are nuts, sure, but so are the people here who shove Christianity into every orifice. We're talking libertarianism, not religion.

And, to be fair, we're only talking about American libertarianism. You know, the idiot kind that thinks being anti-abortion is a libertarian value, and seems fine with stupid state laws as long as they aren't federal laws.

Smokescreen? Really?

Smokescreen? Really?
Absolutely. Maybe not everywhere, but certainly in Somalia back when it was being referred to as a "Libertarian Paradise."

Religion is a disease wherever you turn. Some places worse than others. But it wasn't running things there. Arguably no one was. Hence "Libertarian Paradise."

To be fair, "Anarchist Paradise" might have been more accurate, but who am I to argue?

You can’t claim Somalia is a ‘libertarian experiment’ and then when I point why that is false just wave your hand and say ‘oh brother’

How about you quit introducing your ignorant bullshit to the discussion. I say that because we’ve discussed this Somalia point before. It’s some kind of talking point you trot out, and clearly can’t defend, because you’re just parroting it from somewhere without understanding.

We’re talking Argentina, so explain why you think it is ‘radical’ for them to dollarize their economy when the local authorities have such history of currency mismanagement.

And, to be fair, we're only talking about American libertarianism. You know, the idiot kind that thinks being anti-abortion is a libertarian value,
An anti-abortion Libertarian would be someone who sees abortion as ending a life, a life for which the parents have responsibility to protect from harm.
If you view abortion as conflict resolution wherein one party loses their life, there would be very few ethical cases where that was acceptable. e.g. A condition both parties cannot survive, so a choice between them must be made.

seems fine with stupid state laws as long as they aren't federal laws.
Federalism is certainly a concept Libertarians embrace. Imagine how much worse off the country would be if states like Colorado hadn’t been so ‘stupid’ as to legalize weed.
Who decides what is ‘stupid’?
Dare we let the hoi polloi exercise this kind of discretion and perhaps do ‘stupid’ things?
I happen to think it provides society the fastest path to evolve forward.

You didn't point out why that was false. You just said "But Sharia, boo hoo, boo hoo." That's not a reasoned argument. The reasoned argument looks at laws and regulations and enforcement, of which there was little in Somalia.

This is your ‘Libertarian Experiment’ in action.

Can you spot the contradictions between the reality and your assertion of a regulation free Libertarian Paradise?

This is a test of whether or not you understand the words you use:

NAIROBI (Reuters) - The Somali insurgent group al Shabaab collects almost as much tax as the government through a sophisticated system of levies on activities from importing goods to irrigating crops, a think tank report has found.

The Mogadishu-based Hiraal Institute said al Shabaab's tax collectors were bringing in an estimated $15 million per month. Its report was based on more than 70 interviews with businessmen, government officials, al Shabaab defectors and active members of the insurgents' tax collection cell.

It examined receipts and income reports from religious taxes and fees charged on activities such as crossing checkpoints, running businesses, irrigating or selling land, or exporting or importing goods.

One senior Somali military commander told Hiraal that he had to pay the insurgency $3,600 in taxes to finish building his house. The first contractor he had hired quit after al Shabaab threatened him because the commander had not paid taxes.

The second contractor stopped work for the same reason. Even trucks carrying his construction materials would not move, the commander said, until he made his payment.

Is she 17?
I'm not sure how old Ashley was when joe forced her to shower with him (according to her diary). I do know the following:

The DailyMail.com states that The New York Times confirmed that the Ashley Biden diary is authentic after the newspaper “reported a Justice Department probe over the diary in November 2021.”

Google what I just wrote. Joe stopped a speech recently to ask a young lady in the audience if she was 17..... her mom responded "she's 6".

I wish I was.

The Brits keep four Typhoons in the Falklands for a reason.
Argentina is just following the path of the US with Trump, the UK with Johnson, and others. They voted for the loudest, most outlandish person screaming out what they want to hear.

Least surprising post ever on HORT. No surprise the MAGA douche is supportive of authoritarian pols.
What is authoritarian about Milei?

Populist, I could see that argument, but what did he run on that you would label ‘authoritarian’?

People just rejected a failing status quo.

Interestingly, the election has seen a surge in support for Milei, especially among the youth. His anti-establishment rhetoric and radical proposals have resonated with a segment of voters disillusioned by the current state of affairs. In stark contrast, Massa, with his years of political experience, is relying on his plan to navigate Argentina out of its economic slump.

Oregon seems to have a libertarian regret issue as well.
