Argentina elects far-right libertarian who wields a chainsaw during campaign rallies....

This is pretty interesting. I wonder what's happening in other walks of life there. Like unemployment, home foreclosures and such.

As I've said before, I'd love to see a serious libertarian experiment. I just didn't want it to happen here any time soon - since I'd worry about a lot of bad consequences.

Argentina is a great choice - a developed nation with good resources and an educated populace - meaning we may be able to learn useful stuff from how things work there - but still far enough away from us in case it blows up.
What bad consequences? Higher unemployment because of laid off government workers?

Don't worry. In a decade or 2 Argentina will be fine. At least that's what happened in neighboring Chile.

In Chile, we helped Pinochet overthrow the government. Thousands were killed. Economic disaster. Fascism. Chicago School economics. And . . . Poof! . . . 20 years later Chile's economy was strong. The survivors and those who got rich were happy.

That's the cool thing about lethal policies. The people who die or are locked up can't vote against those in power. And eventually there will be a good economic cycle, so the PTB can crow about their good policies.
