How about Dom Uhl? He is going to be a matchup nightmare in this league. He has a Devyn Marble-esque way of finishing through contact at the hoop, and is pretty quick off the dribble. Then of course, he's shown great improvement with the deep ball.

9 points, 2 rebounds doesn't seem like much (would have liked to see him crash the boards a bit harder), but I thought he showed a consistent ability to get to the hoop and finish, especially with his shot down the stretch. It's becoming more evident to me that he should not stick at the 5, and go to the stretch 4 like JU

Tough loss, but a combined effort of the bench guys, plus Clemmons and Woodbury kept us neck and neck with one of the most talented teams in the country.

Uhl has been great this year and was very good in the first half. Second half he forced way too much and played some very poor defense!

He's still a bit hesitant to shoot. You can tell that, especially early in the shot clock, he doesn't want to force any shots, which often seems to end up making them worse

He seems to have a switch in his head. When he's on, he makes some things look effortless and can be somewhat dazzling (reverse layup against OSU last year). When he's off, he gets the deer in the headlights look.

He'll be fine though. He's made a lot of progress since last year.

Agree, you could see tonight why you want to limit Uhl at the five to certain matchups. He just needs to stay aggressive offensively and keep driving and not settle. He can get by his guy at will even though according to Dakich he's not quick.

Really a great game that kept us in it. He needs to bone up his defense, but offensively he is an impossible match up for any 5 and most 4s.

Baer and Ellingson sure didn't hesitate, wish they would in retrospect. The crowd was a huge factor as several of our guys were very off in their shooting tonight.

Both of Baer's attempts were pretty open. He just missed. I think Fran will want him shooting the ball in those situations every time. Ellingson's one shot was rushed and he had a hand in his face. Don't think that was a very good one.

Regardless of the outcome, games like these are incredibly important for younger guys come tourney time

The problem with Baer is that he did hesitate. When he just let's it fly he has a very quick release and seems to not get in his own head. The shooting off our bench is one of the big reasons for this run but they have a bad night and you just want them to stop shooting. Did you like our offense when JO used to not pull the trigger and got our offense and terrible late shot clock situations?

Silver linings is loser talk ;)
Iowa's still not as bad as Minnesota and Illinois....wow lost 1 game out of the first 8 against the best in the Big....I'll take that every day and Sunday too. Lot's of teaching moments for Fran and staff going forward.....

The different basketball may have had an effect on Iowa's shooting too. If Fran knows the basketballs are a different brand, I hope he practiced with the different ball at practice. PJ said the AU ball feels heavier and has a different feel to it. I always thought the same brand ball was universally used, at least in conference play.

I know it is in high school. In Nebraska, Baden's are used. Figured it was the same way across the NCAA

Odd that different basketballs are used in the same conference. Uthoff was short on all of his first half shots, so maybe the ball is heavier???

Let's beat the Mildcats and get back on a roll.

They said they used the Under Armour ball the last 3 days of practice. The University of Under Armour (Maryland) uses their sponsors equipment, and is the only team in the Big Ten that does so. The guys commented that it feels "heavier", but it's still round and I'm sure is supposed to weigh the same, same amount of air pressure, etc. But it is without a doubt different. Not different enough to not hit the rim with multiple shots however.
