Avg age of this board?

67. But I can't believe it. When I was selling popcorn at the Glass Bowl when My Dad was head coach, it seems like ten or fifteen years ago, not 60... My first Hawk game was in 1969, and I've been a die-hard fan ever since, around the world. But the Hawks seem like both forever and just a minute ago. My brothers' and my college football and high school coaching careers seem like two weeks ago - and they all ended 40 years ago.

I was at the game Saturday - but I didn't get angry- it just hurts. Hurts me, hurts for us, hurts for the players, hurts for the coaches, hurts for their families; but strangely enough, mixed in with all that pain is a little quiet joy for those North Dakota kids, coaches and families, and what they put in their collective memories and hearts forever.

Maybe age matters.
am 72 and ukrainehawk thats the best post that I have read in a long time. Bingo..Thanks...

63 for this geezer, played the game, been going since to big time college games since 1974 at Tennessee, then 1982 at Iowa. 2 great schools, conferences and venues. Fans at Tennessee are more pissy since they regularly get clocked by Florida and Alabama.

Same here and he was one of the most "put together" players to have ever worn a Hawkeye uniform.Remember the 1st time I saw him it was holy shit moment.

I had the pleasure of playing pickup BB games with Vince at the Robert A. Lee rec center back in the day. Helluva player but an even better guy. Needless to say I'm getting to be an old fart. I'll be 54 next month.

I'll be 67 on Dec 7th. Glad to see there are a few more folks who remember the Gary Snooks, Paul Krause's, John Niland's and others from the 50's and 60's. I didn't really turn into a fan until the famous Playboy Magazine photograph of Snook, et al (my parents were a bit radical and had a subscription to Playboy) right before the fall.

At 33 years old my earliest Iowa football memories are of Matt Rodgers and Nick Bell taking the team to the 1991 Rose Bowl. I learned early how to deal with disappointment, but I always look forward to the next game/season.

I understand sharing frustration etc., on message boards. Agree 100% it's a place for fans to connect and share their perspective. I'm simply referring to some fans who - after one bad game - start calling out players and questioning Kirk's contract extension, etc. The loss sucked. Absolutely. But it's not the end of the world and we still have many games left to play.
I agree with not calling out players by name. I don't mind if someone says our WR's need to stop dropping ball. These are college kids and they don't need to be singled out.

41 and had season tickets and only missed two home games since 1993. Saturday hurt and still does. I'm hoping the Rutgers game will make the hurt less.

61. Have seen many highs and lows of Iowa fb. I have learned that other teams have coaches and players that try very hard to win games. We were defeated by a very good team that should not have been able to beat Iowa. But it happened.

I couldn't care much less about a National Championship. I want to win the B1G. Still within reach.

59 years old been an Iowa fan since I was eight. Played football at New Mexico State

One of Snook's favorite haunts was the Hilltop Bar which is still there today.

any ideas? trying to rationalize some of the ridiculous overreactions here

50 here. I have seen worse meltdowns, and there will be more! It's a message board and posters want to bitch about posters bitching? Priceless! And I will add, if there is ever a day when its ok to lose to a FBS school, especially with the players we had returning. They should shut the whole thing down.

We know you really meant FCS.

44 but wonder why the footage of the classic Rob H game winner vs Michigan looks like they should've had leather helmets on. Good Lord, that was like 7 seasons ago, wasn't it?

My kids tell me that "I'm old as dirt" and I'm only 57. To be truthful I was sooo pissed off at the coaches for the play calling at the end of the game that I could have chewed nails. I will also say that I did not even think about how the ndsu players, coaches and family felt after the game until I read this. I fell that with age there comes an understanding of how one should handle their hurt or as I was being pissed off and message boards are just one way to do that.

What's really bad is twitter. Just reading some of the local medias posts reporting on the game some of the fan posts call for the coaches to be fired and expect recruits to decommit. Just all snide remarks. How productive to the cause of Iowa football is that. All the while there are recruits posting and reading that shit. You go and read some of these jackwagons profiles and they are "life long Hawk fans". Luckly 99% of the kids coming in are level headed enough to blow these comments off.

I'm in my 70's. Can someone tell me what the question was again?

I'm 81 and soon to be 82. My advice to you is when someone asks you a question and you don't know the answer, you should reply, "How soon do you need to know".

i would hope they pay no attention to it

Has anyone added up the replies to get an average. If not the original statement goes for naught.
