Ayo's triple double against Minnesota

GMAFB, OP. His second triple double out of what is now four in program history, and you went “Get off my lawn!” on the fact that Underwood gave him that shot?

Get a life, lol.

There is a lot of Ayo anger right now on this board since a few pundits started talking up his POTY potential vs Garza so...... Yeah.

Or maybe you just lack the knowledge to understand what integrity is. He didn't leave everyone in. He left Ayo in because he was looking out for his player. I think you're just whining.

Careful here, OP seems to get butthurt rather easily. I imagine he's crafting up an insult-packed response as we speak.

Underwood was informed by his assist coaches that Ayo was a rebound away from his second triple double. Underwood told pitino about it and said in his presser that he gave him an extra minute to get it.

I honestly see no issue whatsoever with what was done. People talking about “integrity” are out of their goddamn minds. WTF are you idiots even talking about? Pitino was fine with it but Iowa fans are outraged. lol. smh. Talk about “not a good look.”

The people wishing injury on a player are just plain old malignant assholes. Sick stuff.

Seek help. Jeezus. I thought I hated Illinois but some of you people are absurd.
but they are right . lol

Getting a rebound is “kicking a guy when he’s down”

lol

I’ve never seen our fans so hot to defend Minnesota before. It’s so sickeningly disingenuous but hey it’s coming from the guys with “integrity”. Hahahahaha

the Illini have to tailor their Ayo-favorable combination of stats with arbitrary ppg, assists, and rebounds to show he is POY material.

🤣 You guys are killing me. I mean it. I can't stop laughing at your concern for Ayo's health and the integrity of the sport. You're starting to sound like Indiana fans. I can't believe the Illini are tailoring Ayo's favorable combination of stats of points, rebounds and assists to make the case for POY.

The kid is a baller and I applaud the coach for leaving him in to get a rare and celebratory triple double.

I find it somewhat shameful that some fans are actually pissy about it.

No worries. I think it is funny, but I'm not sure if some Iowa fans are joking or not.

Off topic a little but when he was in the NBA didn’t Ricky Davis once throw a ball up against his own backboard with every one else on the other side of the court so he could get a rebound for a double double

That's not really off-topic. The difference is that nobody on Minnesota quit playing so Ayo could get his final rebound.

Disclaimer...I was lifting so watching at the gym with no audio. Ayo was in the game with under 5 minutes to go and I was wondering what was going on since they were up by 30. Then Ayo finally comes out with just under two minutes to go after he gets his triple double. So yes, interesting move by Underwood risking your best player in garbage time...
the Illini and their idiot fans, when desperately trying to make a case for Ayo for B1G & National Player of the Year, immediately began saying. Ayo has all those triple doubles!!!

I forget which game it was this weekend but during the telecast they brought up Ayo vs Luka and guess what? They talked about him just getting a triple double.

So, it's all calculated. And kinda sleezy.

And when Underwood was at OK State, the FBI closed in during the Adidas scandal. And don't tell me control freak Head Coach Underwood had no idea what was going on with one of his assistants. And what did Underwood do, when the FBI closed in? He fled to Illinois. Coincidence? Don't think so.

Please, report your information to the NCAA or don't post anything at all. Otherwise you are just spreading baseless rumors to try to win some kind of "moral, high-road" argument which is EXACTLY what Indiana fans do when they cannot argue performance on the court. So far in this thread, I've learned that the Illini program, Coach Underwood, and possibly Ayo, all need to be reported to the NCAA.

So now national broadcasters and Underwood are involved in a “sleazy” conspiracy to rob Garza of POY?

Apparently Coach Underwood is a genius to blow out Minnesota, with Ayo getting a triple double. Why don't other coaches do this?

So, you think control freak Head Coach Brad Underwood had no idea what his OK State assistant was up to?

Seriously.

There we go. More innuendo. Don't waste it here, report your information to the NCAA. That's always my standard reply to this kind of conjecture. If you know something, report it! The Illini have more compliance officers than most programs. That's one reason Self left.

Underwood knew everyone would focus on the triple double. He was right.

The announcers were ignorant & simply focused on the triple double and not in how it happened. And then they compared Garza's #s to Ayo's. So, they were using that most recent triple double to make a case of Ayo. They did not say anything about the fact that Ayo was the only starter remaining very late in the game trying to get that one remaining rebound.

I love how you can't answer the question.

Do you believe that control freak Head Coach Brad Underwood is completely innocent & had no idea what his OK State assistant was up to?

I’m honestly awestruck right now.

Fran, do you honestly believe that there was something unethical and conspiratorial about Underwood keeping Ayo in to get a rebound?

Has everyone lost their goddamn minds?

It's not even correct that Ayo was the only remaining starter very late in the game. Adam Miller, who has started every game this season, was on the court in garbage time. Nobody cares that Ayo was left in the game to get ONE REBOUND except pissy rival fans.

It's not even a question to me. I just ignore conjecture. You tell the NCAA the answer to the question. Maybe even secretly tape record Coach Underwood and then splice the tape to make your case. There's no low road that our rivals will not travel to disparage the Illini.

the issue at okst was that the assistant was getting kickbacks from a financial consultant to steer current pro prospects his way? Right?

How would this benefit Underwood exactly? Why would he know about such a thing? What benefit would he get from it? Are you alleging that Underwood was getting kickbacks too?

I’m just not following this latest conspiracy.

Do people on this board complain when Austin Ash hoists up half court shots during garbage time? Not usually! I honestly don't think ANY B1G coach would intentionally embarrass another team or another coach. What Underwood did was harmless.
I seem to remember the Illinois coaches going bat shit crazy on Fran, because Joe W dunked a outlet pass when they were full court pressing us with like 10 seconds to go in a game we had a double digit lead in? So whatever F--- the Illini and Underwood and the horse they rode in on......

Did not say that, dummy. Have you lost your goddman mind & can't read?

Unethical and conspiratorial? Hell no,. Stupid & calculated? Hell yes.

What I did say was

* The Illini are trying to make a case for Ayo for B1G and National Player of the Year. A triple double would help his resume. It was stupid to pull all starters except him in order to desperately get that one rebound.

* After Ayo barely got that triple double, the Illini immediately tweeted out the triple double accomplishment.

* Then the national media immediately brought up this triple double in trying to make a case for Ayo vs Luka.

Believe me "The Illini", don't need any help finding ways to "disparage" themselves......
