B10 may not even have a single team make it to the Sweet 16 this year.

As lousy as the Big Ten has done so far, there is still a pretty good chance that they could end up with more Sweet 16 teams than any other conference.

The max outs are Pac-12 - 5, SEC, Big 12 & Big Ten - 3, with no other conference more than 2.

"Seed chalk' would work out as Pac-12 - 3 and everyone else 2. So, if all 3 Big Ten teams can pull it off today, it would really turn around the narrative on their Tourney performance going into the Sweet 16.

It starts with the Hawkeyes this morning. C'mon, boys. We need this one...

What happened to Illinois isn't totally a reflection of the conference. First, Loyola totally outplayed them. However, regardless who they've had for a coach, Illinois has always had a tendency to play lazy, as if they think the opposing team is eventually going to lay down for them and hand the game to them. It's almost a sense of arrogance. But Loyola kept taking it to them. One thing about an Iowa team, win or lose, there's a constant team effort.
If Iowa could play defense like Loyola we could kick anybody's ass.

That said, the reason Illinois lost is because Loyola outplayed them all game.

The Illini never adjusted to Loyola's defensive pressure. Loyola absolutely neutralized the high pick/screen and the Illini seemed to resort to one-on-one basketball instead of quick passing which should have resulted in some relatively easy back door buckets.

Kudos to Loyola. They controlled just about all 40 minutes of the game.

Anyone think being locked down for almost 3 weeks in Indy was a big factor (For the Big 10)!
You could restart this tournament today with the same teams and matchups and have completely different results, same as every year.
