Well lets take a look. This is as messed up as I've ever seen the B1G Baseball standings. We have ties, missing games, etc... I am basing everything on winning percentages right now.

1. Nebraska 12-5-1 .694
2. Maryland 14-7 .667
2. Minnesota 12-6 .667
4. Michigan 11-7
4. Iowa 11-7
6. Indiana 10-7-1 .583
7. Purdue 10-8 .556
8. Northwestern 8-10 .444
8. Michigan State 8-10 .444
9. Illinois 7-11 .389
11. Rutgers 5-10 .333
11. Ohio State 6-12 .333
13. Penn State 2-16

As it stands now, MSU would be the last team in the B1G tournament as they hold the tie breaker over NW. That could obviously change.

Minnesota/Rutgers had their three games called off, but it appears they are making up two of the games next Tuesday in a DH.

Iowa is currently 1 1/2 out of 1st, so I suppose anything could happen.

Winning percentage is how the official standings are calculated

I'm well aware. The conspiracy theorist in me says this is why some teams in the past (years ago) chose to just flat out cancel games instead of making any effort to get them in. Northwestern used to be notorious for just cancelling conference games it seemed.

Wouldn't the league office have final say on whether or not conference games get played or not?

I'll also add that MSU won the series over NW, so they are the last team in as of now. For some reason I thought that NW had won that series.

Does Iowa have ANY shot at a regional if they don't win the Big 10 Tourney?

No

We needed to take care of business against Northwestern and Rutgers. Also, the games Iowa lost to Villanova, Bucknell, Western Illinois, and Alabama State are haunting us as well. You can't lose six games to 200+ RPI teams and expect to get an at-large.

If Iowa had taken care of business against NW and Rutgers, won the regular season B1G title and had an RPI say 60-ish. I'd say they are in.

Heck, some sites still list Nebraska as "last four in" and they have an RPI of 43? Of course they lose any of their remaining games and it could fall a lot.

Iowa really needed to face Indiana, Michigan, or Maryland this year to get an RPI boost if they win any of those games. With a more manageable schedule, also comes less margin of error in the RPI race.

That's what I was thinking..however, B10 tourney is up for grabs, no runaway favorite and lots of teams clustered #2-#6...too bad Eldred went down, assuming he was our #1 or #2 pitcher and weekend starter. Just can't lose Game 1 in that tourney! I'm bummed it's not in Omaha this year, however hopefully I'll be down to root on the Hawks next year! TD gets the Big Ten Tourney back for 5 years in a row starting in '18.
I remember going to that title game last year in TD and was amazed at the Hawk attendance, nearly 10,000, lines all around the stadium. Can still hear "Let's Go Hawks" pounding through the concourse in the 8th and 9th innings, one day they will get to the CWS and turn Omaha black and gold!

I really think with Eldred that Iowa wins the B1G this year, especially with what Gallagher and Erickson have done. It is what it is though.

Yes, the B1G title game was great last year. I still wish they would have been able to pull it out. Ronnie Dawson was pain in Iowa's ass that game.

I really believe Iowa baseball is a "sleeping giant" per say in the B1G conference. There is a lot of talent in baseball in the region and the fan support would be there as we saw in the B1G tournament.

Being in Omaha that would amazing should Iowa awaken and contend in baseball on a regular basis, Heller really has the boys playing well, 4th straight 30 win season? I get to hear all about the wonderful Big Red, a year or two ago they wanted Erstad gone..now he's amazing, such is sports and life I guess. Although, you still see some great Crouch and Tommy Frazier jerseys at baseball games..bandwagon is always full if Neb is in the regionals...

Bandwagon fans are a part of the game. Nebraska still has a good following, but there are plenty of casual fans as well that don't follow unless they do well. Expect there to be more visible baseball fans should Nebraska win the B1G and do something in the NCAA tournament.

FWIW, it would be the same way at Iowa. I think 2015 and the 2016 B1G tournament are prime examples. Iowa's NW and Nebraska series in 2015 were really full in the stands. I believe one of the days of the Nebraska series they had to turn people away because it was sold out. Then the 2016 B1G tournament, the Sunday showing was unbelievable but the vast majority were casual fans.

Does Nebraska have bandwagon fans, sure, just like everyone does. But the Huskers do have a very solid, consistent baseball following. The Huskers are annually one of top drawing teams in the country. Last year and so far this year the Huskers are 8th in the nation in average attendance.

2017 Attendance Numbers (Average Per Game)
1. LSU - 10,580
2. Ole Miss - 8,580
3. Mississippi State - 7,962
4. Arkansas - 7,815
5. South Carolina - 7,163
6. Texas A&M - 5,319
7. Texas - 5,246
8. Nebraska - 5,222
9. Clemson - 4,664
10. Alabama - 4,314

34. Indiana - 1,979
50. Illinois - 1,311
66. Ohio State - 995
78. Purdue - 872

Not really. There isn't a mechanism to make up games that are not able to be played the weekend they are scheduled. With travel and every weekend having games, there isn't really opportunity to make up games. The tie could really benefit Nebraska as they are in effect 2 games ahead of Iowa.

This Iowa season is a slight disappointment, although much baseball yet to be played. The schedule was favorable for a legitimate run at regular season title. The new players Heller brought in have been by and large good (Adams, Cropley, Norman, Whelan, others). The injury to Eldred was a big one. Some bad luck in close games cost Iowa. If they get hot these last 2 weekends and win 5 of 6 or sweep 2 series, still a shot at regular season title. And Iowa has a shot for a run in the B1G tourney. Gallagher gives Iowa a shot against any team in Game 1, and Erickson has been lights out lately. Beyond that, things get tricky.

The Big Ten rescheduled the Minnesota vs. Rutgers series (albeit just two games vs. three). They will play a double-header on May 16, two days after their (Minnesota) weekend series with Long Beach State and two days before their three-game series with Purdue.

Thanks for the update Alum-Ni. Good for the league getting those games in. Could impact the league race a lot with Minnesota having those games.

What are the game times this weekend against Ohio State, Fri.,Sat., and Sunday? Thank you.
Also, where is the BTT for baseball this season? Thanks!!

Go HAWKS!!

Friday at 6, Saturday at 2, Sunday at 1. Tourney is at Indiana University (moved last minute from Minny, where they had a conflict)

Tournament is in Bloomington this year, then will be in Omaha for the next five years after that.

I've been busy the last few days but was that just announced? I think it's unanimous around here (probably because of the proximity and recent success) but the tournament should be in Omaha. I just need to convince my brother to stay in Omaha after graduation next year so I have someplace to stay.

It was announced right before the season started in regards to Bloomington. Omaha was announced quite a while ago. Probably would have been there this year too but the Big East got dibs on it this year

Great venue down here for baseball, regardless of what you thought about the Blatt and the CWS. Very, very close to bars and restaurants and a brand new Marriott will be open a few blocks away later this summer. What's interesting is that the Old Market thought they would seen a business boom with the CWS moving downtown, but that's not the case. Most people stay, eat and shop in the 6 block radius of TD Ameritrade.

I know it's Nebraska baseball, but a few years ago the Neb vs. Indiana game outdrew the entire Big 10 tourney the year before in Minneapolis! A single game outdrew that tourney by about 5,000 IIRC. The Iowa/OSU game probably did the same last year as well. Go Hawks!

Who does Michigan play this baseball weekend? Are they at home, or on the road? We need them to lose.
Are they throwing there best pitchers?

Honestly, that's the first time I've ever seen that done in the B1G that I can recall. I've also never seen a full series cancelled. I have seen B1G teams in past seasons only playing one of the scheduled games during the weekend though.

Oh, I'm well aware of the scene surrounding Ameritrade. It's a blast come CWS time.

Instead of starting a new thread i was hoping someone would update scenarios for the championship.

3 of the 4 teams ahead of iowa lost yesterday and Minnesota was down 5-2 in the 7th when game was suspended till friday.. So everyone helped us out.

Seems like most are playing double headers friday to beat weather so it all could shake out today. Minnesota will have 3 decisions today. That's crazy. Considering they alreadyplayed Rutgers 2 on tuesday and played another midweek game as well.

5/18
1 MINN 14-6
2 NEB 14-7-1
3 MICH 14-8
4 IOWA 14-8
5 MD 15-9
6 IND 12-9-1
7 NW 11-11
8 PUR 10-11

9 MSU 10-12
10 Illinois 8-14

MN is going to finish their game against Purdue at noon today, Friday. Then play a double header after that
against Purdue beginning at 2PM. Saturday it is forecast to rain all day. They plan on getting all games in today.

Going into yesterday, here was the scenarios:

1. Minnesota (14-6) - Can win B1G with sweep, OR series win AND Nebraska loss

2. Nebraska (14-6-1) - Can win B1G with sweep AND Minnesota loss, OR series win AND two Minnesota losses AND Michigan loss

3. Michigan (14-7) - Can win the B1G with sweep AND Minnesota loss AND Nebraska loss, OR series win AND two Minnesota losses AND two Nebraska losses AND Iowa loss.

4. Maryland (15-9) - Can win the B1G with three Minnesota losses AND three Nebraska losses AND two Michigan losses AND two Iowa losses

5. Iowa (13-8) - Can win the Big Ten with a sweep, two Minnesota losses, two Nebraska losses, AND a Michigan loss; OR a loss, three Minnesota losses, three Nebraska losses, two Michigan losses, AND an Indiana loss.

6. Indiana (10-8-1) - Can win the Big Ten with a sweep, three Minnesota losses, three Nebraska losses, two Michigan losses, AND an Iowa loss.

.

If true, then the updated scenario going into today would be
- Sweep DH today, 2 Minnesota losses, 1 Nebraska loss, OR
- Split DH today, 3 Minnesota losses, 2 Nebraska losses, and 1 Michigan loss

Someone check me if I'm wrong.
