East
1. Ohio State (1-0, vs Oregon) - Ohio State didn't look fantastic against the Gophers, specifically on the defensive side of the ball, but Stroud settled down and the Buckeyes have the best WR corp in the B1G, and appear to have a loaded backfield. This is their conference until someone else proves otherwise.
2. Penn State (1-0, vs Ball State) - Penn State went into Madison and stole a win from the Badgers. The game was a defensive slugfest, but the defense was fantastic, and Sean Clifford did enough to win the game. They appear to be the biggest threat in the East after 1 week.
3. Michigan (1-0, vs Washington) - Michigan took care of business against Western Michigan, winning 47-14. It's hard to take away too much from this game, as they absolutely dominated in the trenches with 335 rush yards, and having two touchdown passes over 65 yards. We'll have to wait until next Saturday for more definitive answers.
4. Maryland (1-0, vs Howard) - It was hard for me to decide between 4 and 5, but I'm giving credit to the Terps. West Virginia isn't a great team by any means, but they're good enough that a win from the Terps is notable. Tua's brother threw for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns.
5. Indiana (0-1, vs Idaho) - We all saw how Indiana looked today, and it wasn't pretty. Michael Penix Jr. appeared to be healthy, but he was not good at all. The rush game wasn't great, but the game flow didn't give them a chance to establish it. The defense will have some good games, but they need more out of the QB position to make noise in the East.
6. Rutgers (1-0, vs @ Syracuse) - Who had Rutgers putting up 61 points? If you say you, you're lying. Temple isn't a great team, but anytime Rutgers wins by so much you have to do a double take. Is this team good? Probably not. Will they start 2-0? There is a great chance.
7. Michigan State (1-0, vs Youngstown St.) - I was harsh on Michigan State in week 0, but they showed up in Evanston and dominated. Running back Kenneth Walker rushed for 264 yards, and the team had an energy that wasn't there in year 1 under Mel Tucker. I don't think they'll be in the 7 spot a few weeks from now.

West
1. Iowa (1-0, @ Iowa State) - Again, we all know the Hawks looked dominant in their opener. The secondary was even better than advertised, and the offense did what they had to do. There are still questions on the offensive line, and the rushing game will have to show up next week, but they secured their spot atop the West.
2. Wisconsin (0-1, vs Eastern Michigan) - Wisconsin did not get off to 2021 on the right foot. QB Graham Mertz did not look good, and the only put up 10 points. The defense will keep them in games, but they need more out of the QB position to beat the elite teams in the B1G.
3. Minnesota (0-1, vs Miami OH) - Minnesota didn't beat Ohio State, but they move up in the rankings. They rushed the ball effectively on Thursday night, but may be without RB Mo Ibraham for the rest of the year. No doubt that it would be a huge loss for Minnesota.
4. Purdue (1-0, @ UCONN) - Purdue opened 2021 with a victory and did so with a great air attack. There were questions about the QB position, but Jack Plummer threw for over 300 yards, and David Bell did David Bell things going for 134 yards on 8 catches.
5. Northwestern (0-1, vs Indiana State) - The fighting Fitz's were dominated on Friday night by what many thought was a bad MSU team. Hunter Johnson played okay, but the defense gave up way too many yards on the ground. It's only been one game, but this may be a down year for Northwestern.
6. Nebraska (1-1, vs Buffalo) - Nebraska faced Iowa City West this weekend, but any win for them is impressive at this point. Yes, they lost to #7 on this list, but I still think this team has more talent than Illinois, and they didn't lose to a satellite Texas school (yet). If you're going to be mad about this ranking, I think you're looking for the B1G standings, not the B1G power rankings.
7. Illinois (1-1, @ Virginia) - After a win we all loved last weekend, Illinois came back and laid an egg against UTSA, losing 37-30. Now Vegas only had Illinois as 4.5 point favorites, but anytime you lose to a CUSA team who isn't favored to even win their own division, you have a poorly talented roster. Not that this isn't shocking to anybody
