B1G West Favorite? Minny has Easiest Sched? Nov 9 Key games: IOWA @Wisconsin; Penn State @ Minnesota

No wonder these are the 4 best teams in the B1G right now.

Defense wins championships.

Holy crap, Purdue is in a world of hurt.

Purdue coach Jeff Brohm told reporters today that starting QB Elijah Sindelar will miss 6-8 weeks following surgery to repair a broken clavicle.

Whether Sindelar returns late this season or uses a redshirt is still to be determined.

Star wide receiver Rondale Moore has a hamstring injury, near his knee, and there's no timetable on his return. Brohm said Moore will be "very patient" and only return at 100 percent.

The Gophers beat Purdue on the road last week (something Iowa could not do last year).

They have the easiest schedule of all B1G West contenders.

They are going to be 5-0 after tomorrow.

And they have a pretty good passing attack.

Watch:

What's Minny going to do with the easiest B1G West schedule?

5-0, 2-0 Minnesota
5-0, 2-0 Wisky
4-2, 2-1 PornHuskers
4-1, 1-1 IOWA
2-3, 0-2 Illini
1-4, 0-2 Purdue
1-4, 0-3 N'western

Drawing Penn State as a crossover in 2019 is going to be luxury for both Iowa and Minnesota.

They are replacing 16 starters, and have no quarterback. And their trip to Iowa will be their first tough road game. They play @ Maryland in September, but there will be 30,000 Penn State fans in College Park.

BUMP.

Minnesota has the easiest schedule, but is NOT going to win the west. Bucky will probably lose to tOSU, and if they get past Iowa will easily dispose of the Gophers. If Iowa can get past Ped State, then beat Bucky at Camp Randall, Iowa will beat Minnesota. So, I think the west is still either going to Wisconsin or Iowa. My favorite today is Bucky, but I wouldn't throw in the towel on the Hawks as they get better as the season goes, and if they can beat the Pedsters saturday and not stub their toe with a lesser, then I like our shot.

I will give some credit to Minnesota. They are taking advantage of their easy schedule. It will be interesting to see how they do against Debbie this Saturday. I still can't believe Minnesota went to Wisconsin last year and thoroughly beat them.

Bucky wasn't as good last year. Their D wasn't that good and Hornibrook was still playing QB. I swear he was a liability against every team except Iowa. LOL I think it is still going to come down to Iowa or Wisconsin. I might be wrong, but even if we lose to Ped State, and Bucky loses to tOSU, if we run the table and beat Bucky we should both have two conference losses, and we would win based on head to head matchup. If Minnesota had the same record, they would lose on head to head to both Iowa and Bucky, assuming that they beat everyone except Iowa and Wisconsin.

Why did Hornibrook look like Tom Brady only when they played Iowa? Lol

I think you are right. I think the West will come down to either Wisconsin or Iowa. And since Wisconsin has us at home and they have our number, right now I think you have to give the edge to Wisconsin.

Hindsight right. Care to rethink that statement?

Whats interesting is Minny has been given, with that favorable schedule, the luxury of gaining some major confidence.

Right now its 35-0, Goofs, at Rutgers.

Minny was picked 6th in the West preseason.

However, 7 games in, they will have sole possession of 1st place in the West.

Minny is home now, after destroying Rutgers.

They will remain at home for the next 20 days.

Heading into the Nov 9 game vs PSU (a home game), Minny should be 8-0.

After next Saturday, they likely will have a 2 game lead in the West on both Wisky and Iowa. Wisky likely loses to OSU next week, giving them their 2nd loss.

Didn't really know where to put it, this thread seems appropriate when talking about Minnesota.

Everyone do yourselves a favor and watch Fleck's presser where he is pleading with ESPN to send Gameday to Minneapolis instead of Alabama. I can see why some recruits feel forced to commit on the spot and later back out, dude is a child and saying things like he doesn't know if PSU is undefeated or what LSU or Alabama are doing this year makes him look like an idiot.
