Bakari deserves credit

Definitely a calming influence when Joe T spirals our of control. Don’t really need him to score much, play good and don’t turn the ball over. He was good tonight.

Although not as good as Threeskamp, I do like ThreEvelyn.

Absolutely. This is the 2nd game where he has been a true difference maker. Glad we have him.
I think he may be taking it personally that he doesn’t start. And honestly, given Joe T’’s early game mistakes, it might not be a bad idea to have him start. Can’t wait for the next three games at home.

That's the type of stat line I'd like for joe t to have consistently whether its next year or what ever Just create and take the lay ups/pts if given. Maybe he eventually becomes an explosive scorer during his career.

Well he's got about a dozen or so games left in his "career" so I think he is what he is at this point. Played well tonight.

I like Joe T. a lot, but Evelyn should start at this point. He plays with much more poise and confidence and I think he is capable of scoring 6-10 ppg with more PT and confidence.

Interesting comments Fran had post-game about Pemsl needing more PT to get comfortable and confident. I think the same could be said for Evelyn. Looked lost early in the year playing off the ball and of late appears to have found his role.

I think you continue to start Toussaint,.. he's the future and he needs the exposure...

Yes, sir. With JT in, you have a player who is willing (sometimes too willing :)) to penetrate, a great post, and 3 very good outside 3 point shooters. Pretty, pretty good, and difficult to defend. Plus, as Rifler said, we want JT to be happy and involved. I love watching him play, even when he turns it over.

And he did this with 0 turnovers. He's also a very intelligent defender at the top of that zone, moves his feet really well defensively. The thing he understands offensively that Joe T. just doesn't get yet is that the offense doesn't run through him. He gets that his value on the court is to play strong defense, don't turn ball the over, and get the ball to the scorers on our team.

Evelyn is kind of an enigma.

I think you will see this throughout the year: great couple performances then a stinker. It does give us a ball handling option when JT needs to settle and if he is having a bad game. If he can continue to play within himself and not force things, he will be really good for us.

IMHO, you have to play the kids that do the best job. Right now that is close between Bakari and Joe. Both are doing very well some nights and not so well others, but they seem to be alternating so that isn't so bad. Both are getting valuable minutes, and when they play together, they mesh well. So I say play them both and go with the hot hands between Connor, Joe, CJ and Bakari. Weave some Joe W in there when needed and rotate the 3 bigs (Luka, Cordell and Ryan) enough to keep them fresh. Use Riley when necessary. I sure wish Iowa had Patrick available this year!

I'm in the go with Joe T until he plays himself out of the game. Joe T's ability to attack the ball, penetrate with the ball and generate chaos on defense is unique to our squad. When playing well he's an X factor in Iowa's favor.

Its good to have the graduate student to play solid but unspectacular ball when Joe T's spectacular gets out of control.

The thing that Joe T gives us is the ability to fly up court and make them get set quickly in defense. He is so fast and they have to get back. What I really like about this is that it forces the guards to play a little back in the court on shots and not soaring in to get the rebounds. They know if Joe T is in, that ball is flying back up court so they need to protect that attack. This is something that can be very valuable in our offense.

I do think that EB is playing very well and is a great exchange. I could see them having equal playing time, doesn't matter to me who starts. They both should be seeing about the same amount of time right now in my opinion.

Bakari may have had the the biggest "Wow" play of the game when he did the crossover and sharp step, then held the ball high soaring to the rim.

Pretty impressive.

Yup, and the no look pass to Garza in the middle. Pretty smooth.

Solid but unspectacular? WTF?
