In Iowa the trash used to gravitate towards real estate. It now gravitates towards education. A married couple, both school teachers averaging $55K each is a defined benefit pension of about $77K annually. They probably come close to maxing out SS, which would be another $96K. In the private sector I need to have about $3.46MM in a guaranteed return fund at 5%.
