BAU for a Fran McCaffery coached team

Lol, no that's Iowa basketball. Tons of Alford teams blew leads. Tom Davis' teams even blew some leads, but mostly against really good teams. Lick never had big leads so they could never blow them (they were the ones usually behind by 20).

I'd be willing to bet that neither Alford or Davis blew as many double digit leads or first half leads as Fran has. Plus, I bet Davis had more wins than Fran when trailing by double digits. Fran's in a class all by himself. When it comes to game coaching, Davis and Alford look like John Wooden compared to Fran.

With one minute left I actually felt like "we've got it. We can't lose." Despite our tendency to choke at the end I thought our upperclassmen would seal the deal. Instead we completely inploded. Embarrassing and inexcusable. This does fall in Fran's lap.
Seriously? I felt just the opposite, as in I figure we're going to piss this away, the only suspense is how. And just like the sun rising in the east............................

Absolute unbelievable choke job by everyone associated with Iowa Basketball. You just can't make this shit up.

I'm not going to question Fran most of the time like you guys, but I'll agree keeping that timeout in your back pocket in the last minute was absolute idiotic coaching.
Keeping that timeout was ridiculous. Maybe he was saving it for Drake.

I like Gesell so it's sad to say... but he's been a key part of a lot these end of game collapses the past few years. I just don't know why Fran keeps going to that well again and again.
For the same reason he went to Devyn Marble again and again, with the same result. Piss poor. It's like if I try this 100 times, one of these times its bound to work! Bottom line, they collectively choked, again.

Key word in all of this is...collectively. From Fran, down to the players. Baffling...

The end game coaching by McCaffrey is awful. He does not coach in the final four minutes. they talk about refs sucking on the whistle at the end of the games, well Fran should become a ref. He doesn't do his job at the end other than tell his point guard to dribble for 25 seconds and hope for a bailout foul call at best. At least Marble could rise up and get a shot. Unfortunately, MG is unable to do that and Fran is not smart enough to figure that out and run offense. Fran becomes a great spectator in the last 4 minutes. I guess he is just trying to raise his salary per minute for the prior 36 minutes

It is all point guard play. Gesell is the worse player in the last two minutes of games in Iowa history. This is why we lose close game after close game after close game. It is not Fran's fault.

your stupid. He was the only one that wasn't afraid to try to do something with the ball. the rest of the team needs to grow some apples

I'll settle it: It's on Fran and Mike. Fran keeps putting the ball in his hands with the game on the line instead of Sapp's for some idiotic reason. I have been saying it since last year that Mike Gessel is a nice player but nothing special and should sure as hell not have the ball with the game on the line.

Also, anyone else furious that in the first half there were possessions where Uthoff is perfectly posted up and calling for the ball and Mike is not getting him the ball? Inexcusable that anyone else was even looking to shoot when a guy is that hot. So frustrating.
