Baylor is a bunch of thugs

I was told by the libs on this board that "thug" is tantamount to calling someone the N word. Did that change?

Upon convenience, perhaps,

But let’s not act like some people haven’t used more socially acceptable replacements for the n-word when in polite company. It’s all about intent.

With that said, Bill Laimbeer was the biggest thug in basketball and he’s white.

Some ridiculous hard fouls.

Reminds me of Lambeer
LOL when my husband accepted a job opportunity in Detroit we were home shopping and saw a gorgeous brand new home in a Bloomfield Hills area. Cul de sac, trees, near a lake, etc.
I was ready to say sold, and my husband was too. We’re getting in the agent’s car and my hubby sees the next door mailbox with balloons and a yard sign that said “we love you Bill”. He asks our agent what that means and she said “Oh FYI that’s Bill Laimbeer’s house and they just won the NBA”.
He looked at me and says Uh, no. We’ll keep looking. 😂

I don't care if people use the word regardless tbh lol I think this "intent" as you put it is manufactured by a specific party though when the term is used to apply to a specific group of people to project racism/derail conversations, even if they are acting like absolute thugs.

Larry Bird knew how to take care of himself too.

Larry’s accomplishments were performance based and not based on “thuggery”...and then Bird would tell you what he was going to do to you....and do it! ;)
Yeah, I’m certainly not comparing Bird’s basketball skills to Laimbeer’s.

You’re right. Bird backed it up.

Before my time.

😝
Russell.....Cowens......The Chief.....
Heinsohn....Havlicek.....Bird.....
Cousy....JoJo White....Ainge
Howell....Nelson....Maxwell...

Off the top of my head...alist of some of the Celtic greats from the ‘60’s into the 80’s..
Post men, scorers, guards and “off the bench” stars...the Celts had quite a run for a long, long time...for me, the NBA has lost its luster and is nothing more than a distant memory...
Those Celtic/76er, Celtic/St. Louis Hawk and Celtic/Laker (Minneapolis and LA) games were WARS!
And the list didn’t include Auerbach, Russell, Fitch, Rodgers, KC Jones....guys that could coach, too.

I think Waco does something to people. It’s like there is something in the water.

Honestly that’s the normal level of physicality we are used to seeing. Nothing out of the ordinary yesterday.

He was something else. He’d tell you he was going to kick your butt if you were asking for it and he backed up everything he said.
RESPECT.

NBA was awesome back then.
I remember when we were taking our kids to see the Mavericks when Shaq came in to play them as a rookie.
Many years ago I sat behind the Lakers bench at a Sixers game when it was late in Chamberlain’s career. Giant man.
I do believe (sadly) the golden age for the NBA has come and gone.

I was about to turn 5 when Bird won his last championship in 1986.

Go Clones

Yeah, I said it
Thing is current basketball is all about physical play and pushing the envelope with the referees as much as you can. During the post-season tournaments, they're more likely to let a lot of the crap go.
