Saw he visited ames on Twitter this last weekend. Had good things to say. Thought he was a hawk lock.. Any inside info?

He gets a full ride with football and only a partial with wrestling. Not a hard decision to make. Now, he could do both.
If you base everything strictly on money, then it's not a hard decision. If you don't, it gets much more difficult.

He already has a DI Football offer from the Gophers. He's a pretty fair Baseball player too. He has plenty of options and plenty of time, and it sounds like he's in no hurry either way.

Then you can get your Full Ride in Football along with 85 of your closest friends, and never play a snap in 4-5 years. That most certainly does happen. The decision isn't that simple.

Having too many offers as opposed to none sounds like a good deal to me however!

My push back to that would be if you look beyond the athletic scholarship, you have NIL now. In football you literally could find 100 other kids his age just like him. In wrestling you might find 1 or 2. Wrestling has much more room to maximize your worth. And any hopes of being world class in football is still marginal while in wrestling that goal/dream is within reach (I am not prediciting it, just saying it is a realistic goal).

Disagree that wrestling has much more room to maximize your worth than football. Sure, there are less wrestlers to compete against, but there is exponentially more potential “worth” out there in football. How many upper weight wrestlers have a lot of financial “worth” from wrestling? Taylor, Steveson, and Snyder. Maybe Cox. The chance to be one of those guys in wrestling is very small. Jacob Warner will probably be a 4 time All American—an unbelievably successful career, a career that any 197lber would love to have. I may be wrong, but his direct financial “worth” for that will not be that much, especially if you add in the $ he spent on school.

The chances of making a living off either is damn small. Study hard, cause that's your best bet and always has been.

I would LOVE for Ben and his parents to visit IC and sit down in a room with Kirk AND Tom and discuss all options.
I’m sure Kirk and Tom want what’s best for Ben. i would leave the football and wrestling paths open and if down the road it’s clear that Ben’s a surefire NFL player, the decision becomes pretty easy. Either way, build him up to 250 - 260 lbs over the next several years and see what happens.

I have a feeling Gobblin just gave us a clue :)

He’s always giving out clues. I’m still waiting on the “bigger fish to fry”
It’s still early. The staff has always had the same strategy to recruiting when it comes to contact and offer. I just know they’re pursuing a large swath of the most elite recruits they ever have coast to coast. How many they land is the question. So yes, the staff is trying to fry bigger fish than ever.

Well he is in the backyard, so they certainly have him on the radar. Hope he likes being close to Home. Sounds like he plays Linebacker and Tight End at City High, so who knows where he ends up sizewise in a couple years, not sure where DI Football has him projected, but they probably see him as a damn good all-around athlete and figure it out later.

Whether it's Football or Wrestling, hope he's a Hawk.

247 Sports is projecting him as an LB...

Currently, he is regarded as a 3-star prospect who is the overall #8 in-state recruit and 41st nationally at his position.

what’s his speed like? I think I can remember someone saying he did track.. not sure
Not sure of his times, but he ran the 2nd leg of the Distance Medley that took 2nd at Drake. 2nd leg is the 400?

Per a Hawk Central interview with Cody Goodwin:

He is scheduled to go to a Hawk Football game later this year it appears (Penn State), and went to Ames already and they offered for Football as well as Minnesota.

He's going to Super 32 to wrestle this year, and has heard from Iowa, Oklahoma, Okie State, Stanford, North Carolina & Northern Colorado (had an in home visit with them and plans on going out there to visit I believe). Sounds like he is ruling out Baseball or Track for College, but loves both Football and Wrestling, and realizes it will be tough to do both.

Had a great time at Fargo and his favorite was wrestling with Team Iowa at the Junior Duals, "hanging out with the guys and beating the crap out of teams and showing what Iowa can do". Pretty humble kid who just seems to enjoy competing and keeping busy with Sports.

When does the staff normally offer in the recruiting process?

iowa is TE u right now so if he sees himself as a tight end ,but wouldn't be able to wrestle until after new years.i kind of think the wrestling season is going that direction anyway.

Nothing concrete to offer in terms of 40 times of anything...

But I did watch some video of Kueter making a catch and after the reception, he looked like a boy that definitely can motor!!!

Also, the fact that he is a FOUR-sport athlete just screams "freak" in the best possible way!

Imagine how special this kid is going to be when/if he ever specializes and pours all intention into being a master of one craft!

Instead of posting just the one highlight, here is the whole package:

Iowa is absolutely stacked at Linebacker and and usually plays a cash..... I really like the idea of this kid playing TE...... not sure how that translates to a wrestling room..... you guys thinking smallish heavyweight?
Iowa loves multiple sport athletes and especially wrestlers..... I would imagine Tom and Kirk have had discussions 😂

Keep in mind he’s still just a junior in HS.

Kueter returned a fumble for a TD seconds into the game. "We knew from the first play of the game he was going to be a problem," Ames quarterback Dallas Sauser said. "They were pretty elusive on defense and he played a huge part in that. I can see tonight why he picked up some of those (college) offers."

Hope he does both with Iowa, starting off anyway. He can always choose just one down the road.
