Thems is just good manners, moran…point received and processed
He gets a full ride with football and only a partial with wrestling. Not a hard decision to make. Now, he could do both.I'm more concerned about him and football than him and clowns.
If you base everything strictly on money, then it's not a hard decision. If you don't, it gets much more difficult. He gets a full ride with football and only a partial with wrestling. Not a hard decision to make. Now, he could do both.
My push back to that would be if you look beyond the athletic scholarship, you have NIL now. In football you literally could find 100 other kids his age just like him. In wrestling you might find 1 or 2. Wrestling has much more room to maximize your worth. And any hopes of being world class in football is still marginal while in wrestling that goal/dream is within reach (I am not prediciting it, just saying it is a realistic goal). He gets a full ride with football and only a partial with wrestling. Disagree that wrestling has much more room to maximize your worth than football. Sure, there are less wrestlers to compete against, but there is exponentially more potential “worth” out there in football. How many upper weight wrestlers have a lot of financial “worth” from wrestling? Taylor, Steveson, and Snyder. Maybe Cox. The chance to be one of those guys in wrestling is very small. Jacob Warner will probably be a 4 time All American—an unbelievably successful career, a career that any 197lber would love to have. I may be wrong, but his direct financial “worth” for that will not be that much, especially if you add in the $ he spent on school. My push back to that would be if you look beyond the athletic scholarship, you have NIL now. The chances of making a living off either is damn small. Study hard, cause that's your best bet and always has been.Disagree that wrestling has much more room to maximize your worth than football. I’m sure Kirk and Tom want what’s best for Ben. i would leave the football and wrestling paths open and if down the road it’s clear that Ben’s a surefire NFL player, the decision becomes pretty easy. Either way, build him up to 250 - 260 lbs over the next several years and see what happens.I would LOVE for Ben and his parents to visit IC and sit down in a room with Kirk AND Tom and discuss all options.
I have a feeling Gobblin just gave us a clueI’m sure Kirk and Tom want what’s best for Ben. i would leave the football and wrestling paths open and if down the road it’s clear that Ben’s a surefire NFL player, the decision becomes pretty easy. He’s always giving out clues. I’m still waiting on the “bigger fish to fry”.I have a feeling Gobblin just gave us a clue![]()
It’s still early. The staff has always had the same strategy to recruiting when it comes to contact and offer. I just know they’re pursuing a large swath of the most elite recruits they ever have coast to coast. How many they land is the question. So yes, the staff is trying to fry bigger fish than ever. He’s always giving out clues. I’m still waiting on the “bigger fish to fry”
Well he is in the backyard, so they certainly have him on the radar. Hope he likes being close to Home. Sounds like he plays Linebacker and Tight End at City High, so who knows where he ends up sizewise in a couple years, not sure where DI Football has him projected, but they probably see him as a damn good all-around athlete and figure it out later.I’m sure Kirk and Tom want what’s best for Ben. i would leave the football and wrestling paths open and if down the road it’s clear that Ben’s a surefire NFL player, the decision becomes pretty easy. Whether it's Football or Wrestling, hope he's a Hawk.
Iowa football has done a lot more with less…247 Sports is projecting him as an LB...
Currently, he is regarded as a 3-star prospect who is the overall #8 in-state recruit and 41st nationally at his position.
Not sure of his times, but he ran the 2nd leg of the Distance Medley that took 2nd at Drake. 2nd leg is the 400?what’s his speed like? I think I can remember someone saying he did track.. not sure

It would be pretty poor form to be anything less than complimentary, at least publicly.Has a recruit ever said on Twitter that he bad time on a visit?
The HS DMed is a mile medley that goes 2,2,4,8.Not sure of his times, but he ran the 2nd leg of the Distance Medley that took 2nd at Drake. 2nd leg is the 400?
Iowa is absolutely stacked at Linebacker and and usually plays a cash..... I really like the idea of this kid playing TE...... not sure how that translates to a wrestling room..... you guys thinking smallish heavyweight?
Iowa loves multiple sport athletes and especially wrestlers..... I would imagine Tom and Kirk have had discussions 😂 looks like he would be an awesome fullback too
