Ur such a dumbass. Blaming the out-of-state student body for lack of engagement in athletics proves that you have no idea what the f ur talking about and are just regurgitating an ignorant narrative.
Uhhh this is 100 percent a legitimate factor. The Chicago area friends I made in college didn’t give 2 shits about Iowa basketball. Half of them were Bulls/NBA fans and the other half played hockey and were indifferent to Iowa basketball.

They were all in on Iowa football, but that likely had more to do with the tailgating, better weather, better product (‘08-‘12) Stanzi the Americanzi, etc. Given Iowa basketball has 0 tailgating, awful weather, & a stale product, it’s a tough sell for the student body - especially the Chicago suburb kids

That's funny because all my Chicago area friends i met at Iowa loved the basketball team

See how that works? Asinine argument

If only there was a person in a position of power who could try to connect with the students and bring them back. Oh wait, thats what coaches are supposed to do.

Go look at how Bruce Pearl connects with Auburn's students. It's amazing. Then look at the complete disregard Fran had for that area of HIS resposibitlity. It's been a problem forever because we keep hiring coaches who don't do it. Hopefully we finally we have one who understands what that means and how important it is to the program. I think we do and he's off to a great start.

Fran's fat contract, getting old, having a pile of guaranteed money, and him being a family man put him at home at dinner table or going to his boys games instead of of engaging fans. There was nothing in his contact linking his salary and attendance. BMAC knows he has to go out and raise NIL....Fran was waiting for NIL to drop in his lap.

When you have poor attendance, then I think efforts need to be made to make the trip to Carver more convenient and less expensive by the Athletic Department.

I live out in Oregon and its been probably 13 years since I saw my last game....got three tickets from Stubhub and some jackass student from Illiniois had a single ticket and xeroxed 2 copies and sold three tickets on stub hub. Fortunately Iowa guarantees Stub hub
tickets so we got in.

Who pissed in your cheerios? I just spoke to what I experienced. I also highlighted some key factors that limited student attendance and made it less attractive.

Out of curiosity, what years did you attend? Was the product more attractive? Can’t imagine it was worse than the lickliter era I witnessed.

Illinois students aren’t the sole issue for student attendance, but to 100% disregard it as a factor would be disingenuous. Shit there are Iowa students who don’t attend because they grew up wrestling.

Ok, how about you back it up with facts. Which year - I will look up the details for you.
Can't say that I recall which year. Probably at least over 10 years ago.

You are the one refuting my claim. You can take it at face value, or if it's that big of deal, you can attempt to prove it wrong. It isn't that big of a deal to me
