Beth Goetz has simply handled this situation masterfully

Probably, but you complained about them not doing something they seem to have done.

Did you not know, or did you just want to complain about something?
Just wanted to complain.

Thnx for asking.

Next big test for Beth is when they name new AD. If it’s Beth, then it’s official that there’s a new sheriff in town and KF has to deal with her until he retires. If it’s not Beth, then we know that KF has retained his power and control over the program.

As long as Brian is gone, Iowa fans win. Beth will get the job.

Link to my ever taking anything he's posted seriously?

Why would you respond to him then. He's a troll, it's exactly what he wants, you aren't going to win an internet argument.

I wish the people on this board would ****ing learn to just ignore the obvious trolls, especially since we don't have any mods. Bunch of amateurs around here.

She actually did Kirk a huge favor.
  • He Goetz rid of his underperforming son because she played the heavy so he didn't have to.
  • He Goetz the motivational power of playing the aggrieved party to his team and the press/public.
  • He Goetz to hire the next OC.
  • He Goetz a several month headstart on the search, which helps for recruiting.
  • He Goetz back direct authority over 100% of his staff for the first time since 2016.
  • He Goetz to look like the bigger person by immediately reaffirming his commitment and desire to remain at the helm.
  • Brian Goetz to collect a few more paychecks, and if the season ends in January, he Goetz another year of service to his eventual pension payments.
  • Everyone Goetz out from under the shadow of the ridiculous Drive to 325 mockery, which is essentially neutered.
All in all, this actually worked out quite well for him.
But what do we Iowa fans Goetz, Ol’ Doodle?

I don’t know exactly how much power Beth has right now, but IMO she should have fired Kirk too.

Throughout this Brian fiasco he proved himself to be unwilling to do his job - which is to put this football program first, not his family. The longer KF stays here - the more it is apparent that he is not leading an accountability culture here. Phil and LeVar are, but not the offensive side that KF controls. Deacon Hill remaining starter is the emperor-who-has-no-clothes moment in that press conference.

The next step in this ordeal is that KF hires a new coordinator of course. Any new coordinator worth their salt is going to demand a large contract with a buyout, and control.

Guarantee you Kirk won’t go for that. So he goes and gets an overpaid slappy in all likelihood - and that probably means this situation actually escalates and leaves this program a smoking crater in 3 years.

And this all ignores the giant elephant in the room which is that Kirk has an absolute abysmal roster right now on offense and nothing substantial is in the hopper to fix things immediately. Yes the transfer portal - but that hit rate was very low last year.

And in order to keep up with how the league is changing - Iowa needs to have top 20 classes to just have a shot to do well in this league. We’re nowhere close to that right now.

She was told what to do by the prez and the prez was told by the big donators.
Obviously the donors love Iowa and love supporting the student-athletes. If the admin did things their own way, would the donors actually get pissed and stop donating to what they love?

Does anyone know how much Mary Ferenze had to do with retaining Brian as coach? I would imagine just looking Brian in the face would be tough enough to fire him but to come home to Moma bear after that would be enough to send me running for the garage!

I agree with you that Kirk has become the disease and needs to be dealt with, but if they were going to let Kirk go, it should be at the end of the season. Not that it will happen regardless of how his season turns out, but that would be the time to do it.
