BF goes after the replay officals

Ball was out before the whistle blew. Fumble

Yup on the replay you see the ball is out and then they blow the whistle. Watched the game with my brother in law who is a high school official and he said that's tough to overturn. If they ruled forward progress, then it can't be reviewed he said. IDK, he seems to know his rules, but he was wrong on that one I guess.

BF should never go after a replay official though. Keep your cool, I realize its not going the way he wanted, but it wasn't his fault the offense was doing poorly. The players did not execute at all. A lot of missed blocks or bonehead mistakes. Wadley missed a couple of cut back lanes in the 1st half that could of been house calls. Butler also missed some lanes. It seems like the RB's are being too patient, instead of finding a seam and hitting it. I won't even go into the WR's play.

I’m not even bringing up the whistle. It means nothing in this play. Not a thing.

I’m talking about a Minnesota player holding Butler up and carrying him forward. It’s as clear as day. Watch Butler trying to get himself down because he knows that Minnesota players are ripping at the ball. Butler’s forward momentum has stopped. He’s is being held up and drug forward, while Minny teammates rip the ball away. I saw it live from just behind the Minny bench and I watched several times on DVR.

As for the whistle. The only thing the whistle did was prevent Minny from was returning (advancing) the alleged fumble since Butler was ruled down by contact during live play.

This.
Forward progress was stopped.
Unless butler can fly since his feet were off the ground.
Again - really like the passion of bf going after incompetence.
Now if we could hire the guy who went after GDGD in the pressbox and add him to the staff we’d have something.

This.
Forward progress was stopped.

That’s not for the replay official to determine. If BF had a problem with anyone then go after the officials on the field who didn’t blow it dead. If it were blown dead, there is no review and you play on, Iowa ball. They didn’t blow it dead, ball came out before Butler was down and before the whistle, fumble. BF went after the wrong guys

I always thought once the whistle was blown bc of forward progress, then the play was dead and not reviewable?

I like fiery coaches who use emotion to fire up their team. However, a profanity-laced tirade in the press box isn't firing up your team because no one even knows about it. Additionally, there was enough concern about it that they posted security at the door of the replay booth before Brian returned.

Pretty much this. We all like fire, but all cussing out officials does is make you look stupid. We laughed at Bo Pelini for doing dumb crap like whipping his hat at an official and picking up unsportsmanlike penalties. I want my coach to have fire, but I also want my coach to be in control of his emotions so that he can make the right call when the game is on the line. I would advise him to spend his energy on coaching his offense better so they don't punt 9 times.

Isn't it strange how important sportsmanship is to people, but it's normal (and apparently encouraged) to yell and scream at an official?

Why anyone would want to be a ref is beyond me. It's pretty obvious why the officiating talent is so bad.

Haha. Just go to any high school football game. So many parents screaming about calls.

Even replay official on fs1 said he would have overturned int call nose of football clearly made contact with the ground and at least 2 holding calls i thought were very sketchy I do like Brian's passion somebody has to call them guys out on there shitty calls

A photographer had a picture also. Ball touching ground and one had no way had control of ball. I know you can't see that in real time, but that was technically not a catch. As far as why #6 just blew that reception which would have been a TD in stride who knows.

I'd love to see football coaches get 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, if they get two they get tossed. Just like in basketball with technical fouls. My cousin is a ref on the small college level, have to have thick skin.

Something like this tirade by Brian isn't going to help Kirk sell people on the idea of him taking over one day if he can't control his emotions when talking to the replay official.

He will learn from it and move on but should of just talked to the official to find out why they called the interception an interception and the fumble a fumble. If he doesn't agree, just say you don't agree with the call and leave it at that since there is still a half to play.

Concerning the officials, it was pretty bad and I'd like to know if the B1G office views game tape and grades these guys on a weekly basis. Clearly, the office needs to work on upgrading their officials and defining what is and isn't holding. Clearly, there is a problem in calling the penalty correctly based on what they called Saturday night and what they didn't call.
