BF...Hawks building offense in spitting image of New England's offense.

If they ever get a QB as good as Brady maybe you will see more scoring and a more spread out O. ok, Brees good would work as well.
2 games this year where the QB played really well, saw the field and threw the ball accurately and we caught the ball as well---OSU/ISU , the offense looked different than the NW/MSU games.....
That said I agree we need to spread teams out more than we do even when we want to run the ball and quit playing in the phone booth as much..
The problem with this thought process, is that this is college. Your getting guys right out of high school. Hint: Brady wasn't Tom Terrific in college either. Hell, if I remember correctly he didn't even start at Michigan for a lot of his career and did nothing to show what he would become in Belechick's system in the league. For my money, Stanley has way more upside right now then old #12 did when he played for Michigan. Lets see how much Nate has progressed with a full season, and a full offseason as the starter under his belt. If those around him step up their games, (yes were talking about you WR's ) and OL, we could be seeing the best QB who has every played at Iowa. Time will tell.........

4 Major similarities I'm seeing are the lack of the Big Time 1000 yd receiver for the better part of this decade outside TE. Of course use of multiple TE's who are very good. Running game/dink and dunk passing game to the RB's. We aren't doing a ton of the passing to the RB's yet, but I think its being integrated. Using short passes and screens to RB's is an effective way to extend the running game if you will. The 4th thing is the prominent and reliable slot receiver.

BF just needs to make adjustments faster and the offense needs to be more consistent , If those 2 things happen BF has done His job.

Getting ahead of the curve offensively is tantamount to Iowa's successful future. There is alot of work to be done in order to achieve this, and I would argue that the work will never stop in that dept. given the constant adaptation of Defenses against offensive schemes.
Iowa has always had an effective approach defensively for the most part. They can work to improve as well, and I think they are doing that by recruiting different personnel. Getting the offense where it needs to be from a philosphy and execution standpoint as well as a personnel/depth standpoint will make the program much more formidable.

He must have some idea what he's going for. Alot of Dink and dunk short passes and use of the tight end. Despite the obvious frustrations, qb still managed to have one of the better statistical years of any during the KF era. I also think they were coaching Stanley to play fairly conservatively in his first year as a starter. Only 6 interceptions would be one indicator of that.

The issue of running the ball needs to be addressed in terms of adjusting when we are not running the ball well. We were in a bit of a bind this year with the new QB and unexpectedly below par line play. I would like to see no less than 50% passing though.

We saw mid-season adjustments on the run game last year with the use of much more power run game (vs zone). I suspect BF learned a lot last year and will have a much better grasp of how to adjust to what defenses are doing.

He's a smart guy. His aggression will continue to make this offense more explosive. I think he and KF are kind of a "good cop, bad cop" with respect to aggression/risk vs conservative/safe play. I'm hoping that, ultimately, they'll compliment each other and keep us away from the extremes. It may also lead to more unpredictability depending on who's influence is taking the upper hand during any given game or play.

The tOSU, ISU and Nebby games showed that BF had an offense capable of executing at a high level, even against top competition, in his first year. There was also a demonstration of lack of ability to do so consistently. That really came down to two things: player execution and coach's ability to adapt. I expect both of those to improve this year.

Barring a injuries to key players or thin positions, I'll be surprised if this offense doesn't look much better this year.
