Big Ten Brackets- OUT

I am not really sure what is so hard to understand. Tom on your board made it WAY more complicated than it is and bitches about McC getting a bye when he is a guy you probably want getting as few matches as possible.

133 seeded out to 14. So we got screwed there. Other than that they randomly draw and we pretty much got hosed as far as this bye thing goes. Why wouldn't they just give the top 2 seeded wrestlers byes across the board? That is really the only fair way to do this. It would also not make for huge mismatches the first round for the most part. It would minimize the chances of having a lopsided first round allocation like they have here that is very likely to decide who the big ten champ is.

To be fair to Tom, he did say later that McCutcheon getting a bye is good because of his injuries. I agree that you guys got hosed with the byes.

He has to finish 8th to be considered a wild card, per NCAA
Re. Stoll, not quite right. Meeting 2 of the 7 Bronze Standard criteria automatically earns Bronze Standard. Sam has already earned it, so if he does not finish top-6 (Peck is not wrestling, so AQ's go to 6), but "participates" and "competes" in the conference tournament, I'd place has chances at near 100% he'll get an at-large bid to the NCAA's...regardless of where he finishes.

The reference to "one spot out of auto-qualifying" is one of the 7 criteria, not a requirement for an at-large bid.

These brackets match up perfectly for the Big Ten champs to be the home team.

Ok, I already looked on Track and saw that Tomasello has a first round match, not a bye, and Gilman has a bye. That right there does not make a bit of sense.

Then 141 1st and 2nd seeds have first round matches, but 2 others don't.

Then 149 has T-shirt and Sorensen getting byes, but not Retherford (1st seed)

Again 165 1st seed has a match but 2nd seed doesn't. It continues on..

Sorry if this has already been discussed as I haven't read the thread thoroughly, but I'm just not understanding this at all.

It has to do with the number of automatic qualifiers at the weight. Some weights may only automatically advance the top 5 placers, others send 9 or more.

If a bracket has 8 or less auto qualifiers then they seed the top 8 and the 6 wrestlers not seeded get a random first round seeded opponent.

If a bracket has 9 or more auto qualifiers then they seed all 14 wrestlers meaning 1 and 2 seeds will have the byes.

Hope that makes sense.

It does, thanks
