BIG

I know Fran likes to play cupcakes in non conference games, but I'd love to see some regional matchups with the following teams playing home & away:

Notre Dame
Marquette
Creighton
DePaul
Missouri

Easy games for fans to travel to.
My guess is none of them would ever agree. Not sure Iowa would either. The more likely scenario is what we're seeing this year in Sioux Falls, KC, or Moline. The only time Iowa got schools of that caliber recently in Iowa City was during the Gavitt Games or ACC/Big Ten challenge which are both defunct.

Yet still not better than Purdue.
Illinois hasn't won a non-conference road game since 2020.

No question they've performed better than Iowa over the last few years but Underwood talks about that program like it's Duke West. It's a joke.

Dang. Thatā€™s wild! In that same time, Purdue didnā€™t lose a non con game until Marquette. Itā€™s wild how they think they are the class of the big ten. Like, they act like they just clean house every year. Itā€™s funny.

They do clean house every year.

Most of their players transfer every year, and Underwood gets rid of the ones who don't.

Painter doesn't have to replace his entire team every year. There's a lot to be said for that.

I have hated Illannoy since the Lou Doo days, but Underwood schedules games against the very top teams in pre-B1G, preparing them for conference play. They also have some cupcakes.

Creighton would be the most logical quality team to schedule home-home with, but a game in Sioux Falls or Moline might also work.

What early continuity for Purdue? They have two guards that played big minutes last year and TKR who was a 6 and 4 guy. Everyone else played a minor role, no role, or is a freshman. For a team replacing a two time national player of the year, Jones, and Gillis. What if this team is just good because a Painter is a great coach?
Interesting concept

Not sold on Rutgers being a top 25 team. They've struggled in more halves than not so far this season. I see a decent amount of losses in their schedule coming up the next 5 weeks.
Didn't expect the loss to Kennesaw in that prediction. Will be interesting to see how Pickiell handles it with the young guys.

Thatā€™s extremely misleading. How many Big Ten teams even play true non conference road games? We donā€™t.

What? lmao

Purdue
Illinois
Michigan State
Michigan
Ohio State
Wisconsin
Iowa...
Any team that schedules any non con home and home series, or plays in a conference challenge ... In other words, pretty much all of them.

So on average about 1 a year per power conference teams. Correct? LMAO.

We play zero true road non con games this year. Zero.

Uh....no.

Most B1G programs have at least one home and home with power conference teams. Some have more. Most B1G teams took part in the ACC or SEC or Big East challenge.

Do we play any true road games this year? Yes or no? And you keep bringing up the ACC challenge. Again, itā€™s 1 non conference a year. Power 5 teams play 99% non conference games at home or so called neutral court games.

99% huh?

Lots of power conference teams play a few true non con road games a season.

Off the top of my head ...
This season, e.g., Alabama plays at Purdue, at North Carolina, and at North Dakota. Purdue plays at Auburn and at Marquette. Tennessee plays at Louisville and at Illinois....there are no doubt lots of other examples. Illinois has played 6 true non con road games since 2020. They lost all of them. There's nothing misleading about that, dummy.

You claim this idiotic sh*t and then use Iowa -- a notoriously weak scheduler -- as your only example to try to make your point? Like the fact that Iowa plays no non con road games this year proves that no other power conference teams ever do? What? lol Again,

You're the biggest dipshit on the board. 6 games in 4 years ( by the way that's 1.5 true road games per year ) is what that comes out to. Iowa plays zero true road games this year. That's a fact. And again, most power 5 schools only schedule neutral site games anymore. KU vs Duke in Vegas, Houston vs Bama in Vegas tonight as well. If you want to hang your hat on the ACC Big Ten challenge and say look at how many true road games teams play go ahead. Last year Illinois played 1 game, oh and it was the SEC challenge against Tennessee. And the year before they played 0. So keep going "off the top of your head."

There is no ā€œSEC Challenge.ā€ Illinois and Tennessee simply scheduled a home-and-home (and Illinois and Alabama simultaneously scheduled a Chicago/Birmingham series).

Tell us more about Iowas non con road games.
You still don't understand why Iowa's non con road games have nothing to do with whether Illinois' non-con road record is "extremely misleading."

Because you're ****ing stupid...lol

Tell us more about the SEC challenge, Forest.

Youā€™re such an asshat. Iā€™d like to see what 5 random Big Ten schools true road records are over the last 4-5 years. I mean the 1 game a year they all play. You were also the one in another post telling us how great Illinois roster was.

Let's say you did the seemingly impossible and looked up those publicly available, easy to find facts. Which of those records would be "extremely misleading"?

lol

You're such a tiresome f*cking dummy.

Let me guess...you're the genius that posted that Illinois' roster was "trash." lol Here's another exercise for you, explain what Illinois' current roster has to do with their road record over the last 4 years.

Better yet....just have another drink and watch some SEC/B1G Challenge games. lmfao

It's November. In today's transfer/NIL environment many of these teams won't begin gelling until Jan/Feb. The Big 10 has the worst P6 win percentage in the NCAA tournament over the last 5 years - that's where the wins need to come.

Yep. My bad. Couldnā€™t remember I thought the ACC Big Ten thing was over and maybe they had started another one.
I wish there were one! Honestly surprised we havenā€™t set up a Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge since weā€™re both affiliated with FOX. Tons of pretty natural matchups whether itā€™s geography (Cincinnati/OSU), former conference rivalries (Arizona/UCLA and Colorado/Nebraska), etc. I assume theyā€™d keep Iowa/Iowa State separate from such a challenge.

Louisville is eviscerating IU 68-40 right now.
Chuck Hepburn continues to haunt Hoosiers like he did at wisky.
Luke Goode is with IU now...not Illini.
Remember when BIG players had to sit 2 years if transferring within the league?
Ahhh the good old days.

Yep. Players transferring to another team in the same conference is strange.
