Watching the last dance... was BJ's role basically interchangeable with John Paxson and Steve Kerr during his time with the Bulls or did did he a fill a different piece of the Jordan support puzzle?

BJ played with Paxson and was his back-up for the first two championships. The roles reversed for the third. Very similar roles. While both were technically "point guards" Mike or Scottie often brought the ball up the court. Both were probably underrated defenders, and could help with scoring when needed. They would often be spotted up in a corner for a ball reversal shot. But, with Michael and and Scottie as options 1 and 2, the ball didn't get reversed all that often.
Kerr had the same role for the second three-peat, if I remember correctly.
BJ Armstrong’s role was nothing like Pat Beverly.
Go rewatch those Bulls games. Not talking about his Warriors/Hornets years.
