great minds…lolI’ll agree that the system wasn’t available.
great minds…lolI’ll agree that the system wasn’t available.
I will agree that Caitlin has somehow taken her game to another level this year. But they lost a lot of her supporting cast.
I can't believe I'm agreeing 100% w/CM! You go my man! She’s 5-7, we’ve played multiple teams that have gone almost 6 foot across the board. You should stop posting…5-7 is “ok” but not “good” sized in todays women’s basketball.
Honestly, I love Caitlyn but we have found out (at least is I have) Molly Davis is a player. And she had been overshadowed., the more she grows and shines, the better. Kate Martin and Stuelke can play on any team in America and Affolter is a fist fighter!!!This team is better than last years.
If you can’t see that, you should just quit watching and definitely posting.
Every metric they use to judge teams has improved year over year.
I agree with a lot of what you said, especially about Davis. A team can play without a center if they can consistently hit the 3. We had multiple opportunities to win the game. And the rest got better… I’ll toss you a bone here, if we can’t keep Hannah Stuelke healthy and out of foul trouble, it will be a tough go as we progress through the tournament but she is much better and getting better every game.
I’ll toss you another bone… Coming into this year I wasn’t really that big of a Molly Davis fan and in fact when I was putting together the best lineup in my head I like Affolter better than her and maybe Feurbach. Well what I didn’t know is she can get to the rack and score at Will, she is very crafty… That Indiana game really opened my eyes and it appears to me it’s been a coming out party for her. She is much, much better and an underrated defender.
Kate Martin getting 4 fouls that game was horrific she is having a hell of a year and now that Gabby Marshall is finally getting her shot back and we found more minutes for Afgolter. I have no problem calling this team better maybe even much better than last year.
Let’s remember in men’s college basketball teams with the best centers over the last 10-15?years haven’t historically been the teams that won it all.
This is 1000% correct. Clark, while always a really really good player, started to take over the last 1/3 of the season last year. She dominated the Big Ten tournament and was clearly the best player in the tournament. Monica played a nice Batman role. And Warnock was a nice glue player. We're averaging more and holding our opponents to less points than last year. Clark, while great last year in that run is now even better. I'm not sure some of you understand what that means. She's the Jordan or college basketball. Yes, it's hard because the team around her is good, but not great. As you have pointed out we've beaten K St w/a giant Center, VA Tech who made the Final 4 and we blew the doors off of IU. Teams lose games, especially when you have a bullseye on your back and there's 18K fans in Columbus against a really talented team. I'm going to enjoy watching the rest of the season. I know you and I differ on the football team because to me it's not fun to watch anymore. To me the women's bball team is must watch ball and we're good on top of it.You are certainty entitled to that… there aren’t any metrics that would back you up, and our schedule this year is much tougher, and our defense is five points a game better against that tougher schedule, and we have played three of the best centers in college women’s basketball and beat them….
This team gets up and down the court, faster and more efficiently than even last year‘s team. IMO
I’ve posted about our lack of a quality 5 prior to OSU. Just because we can still beat 2nd tier teams with good posts doesn’t mean it’s not a limitation of this team.I guess we’ll just ignore that the defense has improved from last year.
Where were you with these complaints a week ago when they walloped Indiana and their all-BIG center?
Even a healthy Hannah will struggle down low against a decent/bigger post player. And Women’s college teams use more traditional 5’s than the men’s game, so not a good comparison. And the rest got better… I’ll toss you a bone here, if we can’t keep Hannah Stuelke healthy and out of foul trouble, it will be a tough go as we progress through the tournament but she is much better and getting better every game.

It's really too bad there wasn't a 6'3"+ player willing to come to Iowa. Almost anyone, just so we have for fouls to give. Basically the same type of player as Braun on the men's team. Fran has been pretty successful at getting players from the lower leagues and for them to be productive. The men's team needs a CC, while the women's team needs the role players.

Racists Iowa fans? LOl CLOWN the only ones being rasist last season was wat turd from LSU and her coach and the clown coach from SC....don't be a tool!No one was going to come to Iowa after the way racist fans behaved last season. Lauren Betts was fighting with Iowa fans on Twitter defending Angel Reese. We made our bed. Bluder, Jan, Raina, Caitlin all tried.

You're clearly being over the top here. Look, Iowa is a bit of an anomaly (sp) here in all sports. We're a mostly white team in all sports in sports that are mostly dominated by people of color now. We basically have 1 girl that's not white that sees the floor in our top 9. Our football team leans that way as does the men's bball team. I'm not saying there's anything wrong w/that as Iowa as a state has very few minorities. We are who we are. And we have nothing to apologize for. However, it's clear that for some reason we struggle to recruit minority players on the womens team. I have no idea why. You immediately jump to us as having racist fans. Do I think women of color want to play w/other women of color? Sure seems that way. We've been a very successful program even before Clark. Now we're clearly better now than ever. You want to blame the fans that's fine. I can't go there.Think what you want, but don’t wonder why no one txfrd here when it was very obvious why.
Yes, switching gears, I am shocked we couldn’t get a transfer in, but in no way do I think we didn’t try…HARD in fact. I’m a little disappointed to hear of the potential fallout as a result of the Angel Reese thing.
I honestly thought we’d get Kudos for how we/Caitlyn handled that, but oh well….
A couple other critics if you will, I absolutely love watching this girl play and she does use her teammates. I was pissed like after a Fball game after we lost, but…
She often throws passes to some of her teammates that they can’t handle and she needs to know. Goodman and maybe O’Grady (better hands actually) aren’t catching those 50 ft over the head passes and dropping them in very regularly.
And she sometimes throws rockets no one is looking for…
Also she only recently ( and don’t mean this year, I mean the last 10 games) has really tried to play any defense…and by the way it has shown.
Also I’m not complaining, it’s Lisa’s B’s job, but I don’t get why Goodman has gotten so many more minutes. Yes she’s way more physically strong, but I like O’Grady and she does have long arms and better offensive skills…
But it’s her team and her job, just my thoughts…

Holy shit….literally if you needed a message for a poster board highlighting the stupidity of message boards and the negative “20” I like to call them here it is…
We lost on the road in overtime to a ranked conference rival. Our 2nd and 3rd best player were handcuffed with fouls (I’m not a blame the fouls guy usually) and although poorly officiated both ways. It really effed us that they let the tOSU girl run people over in the lane and then called Kate Martin for 2 fouls in 60 seconds for a highly questionable charge and then a foul in the lane where I’m not sure she touched her…WTF?!
We were winning the whole f-ing game and now suddenly we can’t win it all?! Holy shit are some of you guys freaking dumb!!!
We have played 6-6 Ayoka Lee and won, 6-5 Liz Kilter and won and 6-4 Mackenzie Holmes and won…3 of the 5 best centers in college!
I’ve said this before but I’m doing it again… Some of you buffoons think you’re “enlightened fans” but there are 20% of the messageboard population, that whine & ****ing cry about bad coaching every time their team loses….
EVERY FAN BASE….hell Purdues fan base has wanted Painter gone for 10 years and he is probably the best coach in the big 10
Six or seven years ago I was perusing their board after they beat Michigan State by like 67–66. One of their haters said I think this is the best game painters ever coached… I asked him really? one missed free-throw, one questionable foul, one ball thrown out of bounds, and they lose and this is somehow miraculously, the best game he has coached… Guess what if they lost it would’ve been one of the worst….doh!!
I’m extremely thankful I don’t take it personally as you cats and I’m not nearly as dumb….you shouldn’t be allowed on the Internet. You make the rest of us look stupid.
Nice imitation of Beavis. Need more than 5-8 points out of a starting Center. Especially an offense as high powered as Iowa's. But you already knew that, Butthead.Uuuhhhh, clearly ,CLEARLY you don’t watch them play. She has indeed dribbled to the rack many times!
You REALLY do need to stop putting facts out there like that CM. Somebodies going to get their feelings hurt.....Incidentally….Iowas poor schedule is ranked 6th….LOL
Oh know…..😨
There is a BIG difference between last years team, (to this point of the season where we were struggling) and the end of the year team come late Feb and March. Of course people only seem to remember what you did lately, and of course we rolled all the way to the title game. Thats not how they played through the first 20 games last year though....Aren’t we 3 and 2 against ranked teams? I’d take last years team. Maybe you are different.
Well, Iowa also lost by 30 points at Maryland during that late stretch run. They turned out all right. There is a BIG difference between last years team, (to this point of the season where we were struggling) and the end of the year team come late Feb and March. Bluder favors offense over defense, until recently the Clark/Goodman have been more on the same page than Clark/Ogrady which has often resulted in Clark showing signs of frustration. They do seem to be connecting more often, but are still have a lot of room for growth. I have been saying all year that the post/center position was going to be the limiting factor in how far this team can go. I was hoping they would use Stuelke more as a 4 and get the 5s enough minutes for them to settle in. I think we might be close to seeing OGrady first off the bench as she seems to be gaining confidence. If she keeps coming along we could eventually see a shift to a Hannah at the 4 against big teams and at the 5 for small teams.Yes, switching gears, I am shocked we couldn’t get a transfer in, but in no way do I think we didn’t try…HARD in fact. I'm with you on a lot of that. I wonder if it would make any sense to do what TCU just did and have a Volleyball player join the basketball team. It's probably too late for that.
Good points made in here.
But this is an honest question, but does Gabby have something in her heritage? It doesn't matter nor do I care, but just curious. Almost looks like Polynesian or something....or she just tans really, really well
Brad heinrichs was interviewed about this, and he said we would have needed $600k+ to have a legit shot at the big Bluder wanted. He said we just don't have it.There have been numerous threads discussing Iowa’s pursuit of a big to replace Czinano, particularly regarding Betts from Stanford. This is definitely not a new conversation topic.
CC is a generational talent, not throwing the bank of NIL money available to try and win a Natty with her here is a major whiff. Not blaming Bluder in particular, but we’ll likely never see another CC let alone playing for Iowa.
I have no idea what you are talking about or quoting me. My post was in support of Coach Bluder and the team and I have supported them every year since Bluder arrived. Anyway, thanks for the sermon that was clearly for the negative nellies on here, just not me, I agree.

What is wrong with you? If Iowa City bothers you so much why do you cheer for our teams?Forget about the womens portal.
I sent off an email to the WBB Office suggesting the following:
1. Go find a 6"8 290 lb male transgender to play center.
2. The liberal fanbase at Iowa will embrace a tranny.
3. In the event the player is terrible, the liberal fanbase won't dare utter a single word against them because they are a tranny.
It's a win - win for the program and the rest of the players.
Iowa City is a liberal mecca, why shouldn't Iowa be the first team in the B1G to knockdown that door and become the wokest team in the B1G
Most of the players aren't from that the woke haven. What is wrong with you? If Iowa City bothers you so much why do you cheer for our teams?
Got me there. Most of the players aren't from that the woke haven.
VT & Indiana aren’t elite teams & we already lost to KSU.Why is it that you have conveniently skipped the multiple times it’s been posted about a the teams that we have played with all American centers and beat them?!,?
I have personally posted it three times… Those were fantastic teams. Kansas State is an elite team. I think Virginia Tech is certainly a top 16 team or a sweet 16/elite 18 in Indiana maybe two please stop.
Everybody has limitations. Ohio State doesn’t even have a dominant center…..WTH! And there are plenty of very good, guard oriented women’s basketball teams
VT & Indiana aren’t elite teams & we already lost to KSU.
The Ohio State center might not be dominant, but she’s way better than our posts.
I’m glad you keep running your mouth because I’m looking forward to owning your sorry a$$ when weak post play plays a big part in ending our season.

K St is now ranked 4. They’ve lost 1 game. Oh, that was to Iowa. And they have an elite post but I think she just got injured. IU is 14, they’ve lost 2 games. 1 of those to us. VT is 19 and made the final 4 and have 2 elite players that will play in the WNBA. We beat them basically in a home game for them in Charlotte. Someone is is probably going to beat us as only 1 team wins the natty. We’re 18-2. Maybe we’d be 20 and 0 if you could have landed us an “ elite” Center. Oh, UCLA lost tonight on the road. They were 2. Guess sometimes you lose road games to good teams.VT & Indiana aren’t elite teams & we already lost to KSU.

Looking forward to further discussion when we flame out before the Final 4 due to lack of quality post play.Good fan….something ends everyone’s season but one team, dope. You are the kind of fan that waits until we lose to bitch and moan but never around when we win….those fans don’t own anybody🤷♂️
You make up what you want to see….carry on. I’m curious what you’ll say when we beat them by 10 plus in Iowa City or when Indiana beats them, it’s literally such a dumb take.
But you be you…
It is hard to get on the same page when O'Grady doesn't get many minutes. She had a nice stretch and then didn't see the floor much after that. I will say her lack of lateral quickness really limits her, especially against someone like the McMahon girl.Bluder favors offense over defense, until recently the Clark/Goodman have been more on the same page than Clark/Ogrady which has often resulted in Clark showing signs of frustration. The Betts girl that everyone wanted was not impressive at all.#2 UCLA just lost on the road to #16 Utah. I watched about 1/2 the game. Neither team really impressed me, but college teams are going to have off nights, especially on the road.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe one of her parents is black and the other is white.Good points made in here.
