so out of 1000 players in portal there was no one that could rebound or play interior defense. Gotcha.
You keep spouting the same nonsense. We were the number 2 team in the country going into the game today. 1 team better. That’s it. If we had gotten Morrow from DePaul, would we be 1 right now? Would we be favored over S Carolina? You make it sound so easy for some local company to drop 200K or so and then guarantee that player even wants to come to Iowa. We said we wanted a big. They didn’t want to come to Iowa City. Look at our roster and tell me if you notice anything? Maybe girls of color don’t want to come here or aren’t comfortable. The LSu game was polarizing unfortunately and probably not in a good way for us. Blame Bluder if it makes you feel better.
And also Stuelke is having to shut down her social media site because some of our asshole fans are blaming her for a regular season loss that in the grand scheme of things doesn’t mean shit. Stiffs? Stuelke won 6th Woman of the year as a freaking true freshman. She's also had to deal with injuries a bit this year. The girl can play. Goodman and O'Grady have been quality backups this year as well.
Recognize that 1) that player for OSU is pretty good and 2) it's hard to play defense effectively when all your bigs are battling foul trouble all game long, in what was (both ways), a very poorly officiated game.
Good lord people, they're 18-2, with both losses coming to top 15-20 teams (and also winning the rematch against KSU a couple weeks later). It's not like they went and lost to the last place team in the conference.
I'll admit I'd have liked to have landed a post player after last season, but it didn't work out. Whether that was due to lack of interest, NIL issues or what, I don't know. What I do know is that this squad is a top 5 team nearing the end of January with an excellent chance at a 1 seed. What happens beyond that in the tournament, who knows.
we had no money to offer. our only hope was a quality center would want to come based on having the best interior coach around and the best interior post passer…….we got no takers so we had to go with what we already had.

What about the great never criticized swarm, where were they following Iowa being in a national title game? Why didn’t they find a way to entice sponsors to invest in swarm selling them that their ad and sponsors for Clark would go further if they assisted with donations to swarm?
It’s entirely possible she just is anti portal and old school, but what if schools like Stanford/UCLA were preferred because the athletes liked the location batter?

ISU has a transfer big, Natabou that would have helped. Alternatively could have focused on a big freshman.

To anyone that knows ball….it was obvious long before the OSU game that our true 5’s will struggle against good bigs. Luckily the BT is down this year, but better teams with good posts await in the tourney.
I don’t need to know the exact numbers…..but I guarantee there were more than just the top 2-3 posts in the portal that would be significant upgrades over our current 5’s. AND that at least some of them would seriously consider playing in front of packed arenas for a team that just made the finals.
She's two inches taller then the girl for OSU who had 33 and 12. The refs let her bull doze her way to the basket all day. If they hadn't we probably win by 10 and we're not having these conversations today. If anything I think AOG should have seen more playing time. She looked more up to the task then Goodman.

Great. You know the players, (even though you don't), and obviously Bluder did not know of said players who would have been upgrades over our current roster. You do realize that outside the top players in most of these portals, there in the portal quite often because they AREN'T playing for the team they are on currently right? Even if its bumf--- eastern state or wherever.......
Except she was approached and wouldn't even talk to Iowa people. Maybe we should have hogtied her and dragged her from Chicago back to Iowa City.....

It’s really that simple for someone to go out and find someone to pay her 100k plus in NIL to come to iowa. It wasn’t done. Ergo, Iowa will have an uphill battle to make the final four again.
Especially when Barta was attempting to put up as many barriers between donors and NIL as possible, no it really isn’t that simple.
Not to mention the player also has to want to come to Iowa.
Ironically, in pre-NIL era I think getting a ost player to transfer to Iowa would have been simpler.

We lost on the road in overtime to a ranked conference rival. Our 2nd and 3rd best player were handcuffed with fouls (I’m not a blame the fouls guy usually) and although poorly officiated both ways. It really effed us that they let the tOSU girl run people over in the lane and then called Kate Martin for 2 fouls in 60 seconds for a highly questionable charge and then a foul in the lane where I’m not sure she touched her…WTF?!

Six or seven years ago I was perusing their board after they beat Michigan State by like 67–66. One of their haters said I think this is the best game painters ever coached… I asked him really? one missed free-throw, one questionable foul, one ball thrown out of bounds, and they lose and this is somehow miraculously, the best game he has coached… Guess what if they lost it would’ve been one of the worst….doh!!

Again Barta would have zero, absolutely zero control over this. Sure he can facilitate if he wanted and promote NIL. But blaming Barta for putting up barriers, ignored what actually could be done.
not sure what your point here is. NIL money can come from anywhere. Can be from a group connected to provide it or from an individual or company. by rule the money is to be for services provided or the likeness/advertising of the athlete. everyone knows, however, that this is most often not the case. in the case of women’s basketball there was no money from the swarm as you indicate but there were also no companies or individuals stepping up to provide funds, which is what I stated. so unless you know that there actually was money available not sure what your argument is. my statement stands, “there was no money directed to or for the women’s basketball program”.

You’re arguing like there were big donors or companies just standing there with blank checks and Bluder said no thanks.
And Barta absolutely had some control over this. He consistently made it clear that he viewed NIL as competition for the donors, per Brad had zero contact with the Swarm, and refused every request to open communications between the donors and the collective. That’s the primary way to funnel NIL money between donors and players.
I guarantee, absolutely guarantee you, that Hy Vee or Casey’s or any moderately big Iowa company would have opened the checkbook for 150k, if they were asked.
My guess is they were never approached.
