You do realize that Kalshi is a platform that allows people to hedge their exposure to political risk right? That is literally its intended purpose. Plenty of business folks are worried about Trump’s Tarriffs. You can hedge that exposure by placing a bet that Trump will win, offsetting some of the losses you expect from his disastrous economic policies.
Couple that with foreign money seeking to curry favor and mom and pop speculators and it is not surprising that money would pour in on Trump.
Or you can pretend all these people are 100% convinced Trump will win. He very well may, but that is NOT the primary motivation for a huge percentage of the money on Kalshi.

Those that say we will be fine if Trump is elected based on his prior presidency are being intellectually lazy. There are multiple differences this go around.
1) He will immediately give Ukraine to Russia
2) He has a revenge tour that he's going to kick off
3) Vance will be his VP driving Project 2025 instead of Pence
4) Tariffs will jack up prices and the economy. Targeted tariffs are a good tool. The blanket approach he is talking about will wreak havoc and drive instability AND inflation.
5) Mass deportation will cause labor and other issues probably driving inflation and a huge humanitarian toll. The actual cost of that is to be determined based on the approach, but it's unlikely to be cheap.
6) We'll back slide further on environmental matters as he gives away whatever his billionaire (oligarchs-to-be?) want
7) Steven Miller and company are going to be harsh in removing protections and possibly actively attacking minorities and LQBTQ folks.
8) Project 2025
9) Potentially influencing the Fed could be disastrous in the medium to long term....
I don't look forward to a cabinet and advisors of Steven Miller, Bannon, Elon Musk, Roger Stone, my pillow guy, MTG, etc.
Also really don't care to see Jan 6 felons pardoned, Alex Jones empowered, buddying up to Orban, Kim, Putin, etc.
