Lol...I was drunk enough to not spell worth a sheettt. I didn't expect a win but tired of they way we are losing. If we don't demand more, we'll never get it. I know we'll never Alabama but we need to be competitive and not crap down our pants.

Except Vandy over Bama. That ones a shocker. All my Mizzou friends expected their loss at some point. Most of them thought the Tigers have been over rated all season.
I meant the second sentence to apply only to the other two upsets, not the teams in the top 11. You’re right though even some of those games were evenly matched like A&M against Missouri.

Even if we had $16M more in NIL to offer, Kirk would not recruit the top guys. He would not build an offense where we would use them. He is not the answer moving forward. You can see the difference that Tim has brought to the offense. If Kirk would of had it his way, we would still have his ass hole son. Kirk is an anchor for this program.
Im not really that sure. Watching this year so far, I think we have the assistant coach and coordinator staff we need.

This year would be so much better if we had a good QB. What is clear to me is that we need to be ready to spend money, if the current system continues as is, on a high value QB. The rest of the spoils in years forward will come if that happens. Skill players, wins etc.

When is the last time we had a ready to play in the pros QB? I'm optimistic now that we have Lester that we have a shot at getting talent here.

I also wonder, do we need a new head of the NIL program? One fail after another, McNamara, Proctor, overall failures at men's BB....bringing in dollars etc

Just need to clean some things up
“We’ll take a look at the film and learn from that. “

You had two weeks to prepare and did some of the same stupid shit you do every week. I doubt you learn a damn thing from looking at the film.

As far as meltdowns go this one barely qualifies. I suppose the game thread has a bit in it but a day out from the game and the game might as well have never happened. Either people just realize there is no way Iowa will ever realistically compete with Ohio State or it's apathy that Iowa will always be a mediocre team in the NIL/Ferentz era. Or both. But it was fun watching Vandy win, amiright?

I don’t agree.

O$U has always gotten the cream of the crop. This is nothing new. If anything, NIL allows for schools like Iowa to land a few more bigger fish than they would have otherwise gotten.

Iowa gets blown out in games against teams with elite talent because Kirk Ferentz has refused to evolve. Look at what happened yesterday with so many upsets. Don’t tell me programs like Iowa can’t be more competitive against elite teams. Yes, of course Iowa will lose the vast majority of those games—they always have. Right now, though, the issue is Iowa isn’t remotely competitive in matchups against top teams because of Kirk’s stubborn refusal to abandon what worked in the 2000s but what doesn’t work in 2024.

Kirk Ferentz and Iowa football are the embodiment of insanity. That’s the issue, not NIL.
THIS!!!

Our Fossil King HC must ride off into the sunset.
Sooner rather than later.

The word of the day is Fossilization.

Not a single Hawk fan expected a win today.

But most expected a better effort.

It's pretty clear Cade isn't mobile, doesn't have a strong arm, and doesn't have a competent OLine in front of him.
That's a recipe for disaster with an immobile QB.

THAT'S WHAT FANS ARE PISSED ABOUT.
Poor mobility combined with weak arm is a bad combo. Until we get a coach that will recruit and play a QB that isn't a pro style statue then nothing is going to change. The threat of a mobile QB at least gives the defenses another thing to focus on besides loading up for the running back and will also help loosen up the pass game.

Oh for sure my expectations were low. I am not sure we had 200 yards of offense against Penn St. and Michigan combined last year. I'm sure I'm wrong but it felt that way.

We got the ball on their side of the field 5 times. Resulted in 7 points. That is pretty awful but we made it to their side.
It’s pretty sad when fans have been reduced to hoping Iowa can just get the ball on the opponents side of the field.

Agree.

KF coaches in the Stone Age.
Nothing changes until he's gone.
McNamara is a disaster in this offense with a pitiful OLine.

Vandy - 40
#1 Alabama - 35

Washington - 24
#10 Michigan - 14

Minnesota - 24
#11 USC - 17

Arkansas - 19
#4 Tennessee - 14

In a near miss, it was #8 Miami - 39, Cal - 38.

Not everybody lost to a superior team yesterday, FWIW. At least Iowa did score against the OSU reserves. Yay?
Okay. My counter is that other then Bama, the rest of those "higher ranked teams" may well be over rated. Do you REALLY think Michigan is the 10th best team in the country? Their passing offense may be worse then Iowa's. I have a lot of Mizzou friends here in KC and pretty much all of them thought the Tigers were over rated. USC is most certainly over rated and has a lot of the same issues they've had for years. Miami had a 6000 MILE round trip to Cal Berkley. I think most of those games its highly questionable who was the "superior team". Certainly not to the scope were talking about Iowa vs OSU in "the Shoe".

The Iowa O-line is not “pitiful…..the Ohio State defense is just that much superior manpower-wise……If you think Iowa’s defense is good……tOSU’s defense is Iowa on steroids…..they just destroyed what Iowa was trying to do offensively….and then the turn-overs in the second half killed Iowa. We are going to get a much better read on Iowa’s O-line the next couple of weeks against evenly matched opponents. Minnesota did a good job last night against a pretty juicy USC offense…..and we quite honestly kicked the Gophers ass when we played them.

This OLine needs a mobile QB.

Can we agree on that?
Regardless, guys like Colby have to play better as 4/5/6 year players.

It’s a decent O-line……tOSU defense is just vastly superior and that isn’t a shame. Iowa has had many better O-lines in KFs tenure than this one, however. This year’s O-line is better than what we have had in the past 2-3 years though.
Mobil Q-backs and KF are not synonymous however. They have missed badly on that position the past 6-7 classes.

CheersLet's fast-forward.

We go 10-2. Don't make the CFP because it's gonna be a log jam and we were embarrassed in our 2 losses (because yes losing to ISU is an embarrassment in the eyes of the national voters).

Hurray, we make the Outback or Citrus Bowl and lose to some ranked SEC team, or maybe we eek out an ugly win over a depleted SEC team that doesn't want to be there and has half it's roster opt out of the bowl game.

"What does it all mean, Basil".gif

Who gives a f***.........it does nothing for us. You need to understand how our perception is being affected when it comes to these Gen A recruits, and I know you're not taking that into account.

Also, anything worse than 10-2 is an embarrassment for this program considering what we returned and wanted to accomplish coming into the season, so trying to paint a positive light on anything less than 10-2 is an attempt to be argumentatively optimistic for the sake of being argumentatively optimistic....................

Just stop it and let us f***ing move on from Kirk and deal with whatever happens to the program for the next few years. Enough al-f***ing-ready.

Thank you.

This more than anything else is why Michigan isn't among the best teams this year. Their QB's and passing game are way closer to Iowa's than OSU's and the results reflect that.

This is a good team, folks. How many times have we been in a situation like this with Iowa football? Only to watch them rebound and come together. They're going to win a lot more games this season. They may very well be favored for all of the remaining games.

I agree totally jonesy, thats why I said that I didn't consider their game with Washington in Seattle to be an upset. I think Michigan is very over rated. They have much the same issue as Iowa on offense, and are maybe a little more consistent on defense, but they're not a top 10 team, probably not top 20. Nor is USC in my opinion.

USC makes a lot of mistakes, but they are close to the top teams in terms of pure talent. I think their game with PSU is close and a win wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Yep. This board has been an absolute shit show for the last 5 years or so with delusional idiotic fans who actually believe we can be one of the blue bloods. We never have been and never will be, but apparently I’m the reason we aren’t.
The constant KF vitriol just gets so old and played out. He is what he is and the constant bitching won’t do shit about it.
We’re a women’s basketball/soccer school, people need to learn to accept that.
Episode 4 Abc GIF by The Bachelor

Recruit have-nots and we''ll never compete with again with OSUs and Michigans.

A new coach will step up recruiting or not last. Successful programs are constructed on foundations of recruiting. A Ferentz failing.

So very obtuse. Got it. That’s the entertainment I’m speaking of, thank you! Have another!
So, I usually live by the 24 hour rule before I comment. However, not going to comment on this game much other than it was a clown show as are many of KF's games vs top 25 teams in this day and age. Bottom line, if it is a top 25 team, the odds are in favor that KF will get his a$$ kicked.

I am not going to be one of those fans that are happy with mediorcity or worse.......I will always root for the Hawks but am finally ready for a coaching change.

As far as your use of the word obtuse, how about Googling another word? That one is getting boring as are you.
