I'm not a diehard listener but will listen for a few minutes in the morning. Bob has been noticeably absent quite often for the last year or better. Anyone have the skinny?

You are not alone. I have new facts to share.

He has clearly cut back his work schedule for some time now.

There have been rumors of health issues going back several years. None of the crew is getting any younger.

When your name is the first word in a popular shows title, you can probably take off about as much time as you want. Bob has earned it.

You frequently hear Tom say Bob is out 'on assignment'. I used to think that was mostly golfing or making appearances.

Bob and his wife took a long, world-touring vacation awhile back.

When Bob is on the show he is energetic and hilarious, but that hasn't been very often lately.

Bob & Tom is like that old friend from high school that never grew up and tells the same tired stories when you get together. You still try to like the guy and laugh at his stories, but in all reality you just kinda feel bad for him.

Did they add a new permanent member of the main cast outside of Bob, Tom, Chick, and Kristi?

Seems like there's a new male voice the few times that I've tuned in lately.

Scott Potasnik has been in as well as the Colts punter Pat MacAffee. I realize most of it is sophomoric but at least with Bob there was humor. Not so much now. I think he was a heavy smoker and wonder if he caught the cancer.

The show is probably not the same with 25% less fake laughter.
Yeah, the 'laugh track' they use on some of their old clips (Mr. Obvious, Haunted Meeting, Invisible Bob) do get a little old.

Bob is the mustachioed 'Most interesting man in the world' compared to Tom's blow-hard ass-baggery.

Is this the show that has a lady laughing all the time? She sounds like she smokes a carton of cigs everyday. I always imagined she looks like large Marge from the pee-wee Herman movie.

Never listened more than a couple of minutes but I swear the show is just her laughing. Kim carnes voice isn't that raspy.

You can tell a lot about a person by whether or not they listen to the Bob & Tom show. Much better way of filtering out the chaff than actually wasting your time getting to know them.

Gunner, maybe? I think he usually fills in when one of the regulars is absent.

I used to listen occasionally while driving because they sometimes have really good comedians on. The canned laughter didn't bother me as much as it seems to bother a lot of other people. What really bothered me was the way a comedian would set up a perfectly good joke and then one of the hosts would step all over the punchline. I used to imagine that at some point one of the comedians was going to just lose his mind and choke one of the hosts.

I completely agree. Listened to it for a year or so and then the channel it was on went another direction. I don't care how many times I hear it though, MR .OBVIOUS never gets old

Gunner hosts the best of shows. Idk if he is a regular as a host.

I've heard Gunner fill in the past, but see Scott Potasnik on Twitter now so I believe he is the "fill in". I don't listen as much as I used too, but have noticed Bob isn't on as much when I do tune in. I have a much shorter commute to work now so my AM radio is usually ESPN radio because I can stand Mike and Mike for 10 minutes.

I always liked Bob and Tom though and never understood the too much laughter argument. Bob probably laughs the most out of all them, so with him absent it's probably gone down some. I always love tuning in for Donny Baker, Frank Caliendo, Floyd, Costaki, etc. Chick McGee is by far my favorite, followed by Bob, Tom, and then Kristi.

Hope Bob is just retiring and not sick.

Their gutter level humor is best left for the immature.

Low brow or not, there's something wrong with you if you don't think "Hummers in Heaven" is funny.

Took all of a few minutes of listening to them to realize their sense of humor is below my maturity level. If others enjoy it that's their business.
I'm honestly not sure how people find humor from the likes of "Bob and Tom" or "Free beer and hot wings."

A few minutes huh?

my dad listens to them - has for years. i've actually never heard the show, but from he tells me, it sounds like good ol' fun - intentionally juvenile, almost retro humor (in a good way). - trying to explain to mstp, i guess. just guys having fun, not necessarily breaking ground in the comedy circuit (would i be wrong if i said it was so stupid, its funny??)

The show has really been stagnant since the FCC came down on them a decade ago. It took away half their show out of the mix.

I like to listen to them on my short drive to work. They can have some funny topics at times, but it can get pretty stupid as well. I hate most of the call in voices. I do enjoy Donny Baker and some of the other guests though

Seems like 75% of the show is advertising, introducing guests, or recapping what was previously talked about but this is just the way it is these days.

I usually get at least a few laughs on my way to work so that's better than the other morning shows
