Bohannon Hip Surgery

It really will be puzzling/confusing/maddening if we don't bring in some help for next season. Fran has known about Moss leaving for several weesk and Bohannon's injury for months and he seems perfectly content to just move forward with what we have while our peers continue to tap into the juco and transfer market. Really hard to understand his logic here. Even if Bohannon was 100% healthy the argument could be made we need and should be going after a grad transfer guard/wing with one season of eligibility remaining. Without Bohannon, there is no excuse for not bringing in another player.

This sucks for Bohannon. Have watched Naz and Hallice go through this in Ames and it is not something that is quick to bounce back from. Wish him the best.

You make it sound like getting a transfer is a simple thing...all Fran has to do is ask one. It comes down to whether any of the transfers that meet Iowa's needs want to come here. He can't add someone just to add someone...that player has to fill a need and make the team better. If no one who fits that bill wants to come here, there's not a lot that Fran can do about that, even if he is looking hard to find someone.

I had heard this rumor floating around from people that know Jordan for about a month-month and a half. Fran has had to have known for longer. I really hope it's not a lack of effort on his part to bring someone in, because that is inexcusable. I'm not even sure where you go from here.

No reason for Fran to have a sense of urgency replacing Bohannan - In fact, quite the opposite. This actually buys him time. He can Gary can point to this as an "unexpected situation" and "difficult circumstance" for this years team - It basically guarantees him 3 more years assuming Fran is still "doing it right

Can our volleyball coach use his time off to help us "creatively" recruit a couple transfers?

It's inexcusable that a point and/or combo was not brought in.

Either:
A. Fran is satisfied with his roster as is
B. Fran is out of touch with his player's status and intentions
C. Fran isn't even looking at the transfer/JC
market
D. Fran can't sell his program to a mid major player looking to take a step up
E. A and C
F. All of the above

Bottom line, they made the tourney and won one game last year. That's the minimum expectation this year.

There's not a PG in this class?

It is a simple thing 24...Fran can recruit a grad transfer with the following pitch if he wants to: our starting off guard has transferred, our PG/combo guard is battling an injury that will likely sideline him in 2019. Our only guards are an incoming freshman point guard, a redshirt freshman off guard and another combo guard that spends half his time playing another sport, so clearly there is a great opportunity here, minutes are available. Teams all across the country can land juco and grad transfer players, but we are supposed to believe its just too damn difficult for Fran and Iowa? BS. Fran has admitted publicly he isn't real fond of going after transfers and countless teams across the country have somehow figured out this secret formula to bring in transfers? I simply believe Fran doesn't want to go this route and it sure seems like its going to cost him, the team and fans. Iowa going to play a difficult non-conference schedule along with a 20 game conference schedule with 9 scholarship players, one of which has a terrible history of injuries (Pemsl)...good luck with that.

Well 2019-20' will be a wash if Jordan is out for the year. Will have to look forward to 20-21' with a veteran group of upperclassmen with a possibility of Garza, Pemsl, JBo senior class with Wieskamp, Nunge, Connor as our Juniors.

Just makes you wonder if Fran knew of this being a possibility what grad transfers he is looking at if anyone for our backcourt.

JBo has some time to rehab the hip and get himself back into playing condition. It won't be easy but it can be done. I have a couple of friends who had to do basically the same thing. What you to avoid is hip replacement. If it turns out to be that, then JBo and us have something to worry about.

I'm not saying it's too difficult at Iowa, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. Look at it this way...you're a good well-known salesman who sells shirts...you have great shirts that a lot of people would like to have. 3 guys walk into your store and you give them your very best sales pitch, but they all say no because one guy is shopping for pants, one has no money to spend, and the other doesn't really like the shirts. So despite your best efforts, you sold no shirts. The final decision is with the buyers not the sellers.

Look...you can fault Fran for a lot of things (I do too, in fact) but to fault him for this when you really don't know what's been happening behind the scenes is pretty silly. You're getting angry about a premise that you've created and is not based on anything but your own opinion.

You have got to be kidding me. Can Moss come back now?

Funny how his dad says he wants to be the 1st or 2nd option on why he left. Arkansas returns 2 guys who avg 13+ as underclassman last year. Iowa loses Cook and now possibly Jbo. He could have been at worst #3 option behind Joe and Garza next year if not one of our top 2 scorers.

Read the Moss thread. He is no good, so why would you want him back?

One of the coach's responsibilities is to SELL the program.
