Bohannon

Joe was the worst player in the game today. Fran didn’t even play him the second half - his out of control moves and unpredictability throws all other players off. They don’t know where they're supposed to be, where they should move to because you never know what Joe is going to do - I thought Toby gave us great minutes in the second half

Fran needs to remind Bohannon late in close games he isn’t our number one option. Late to get closer throws up a wild 3 after the flagrant. Made a deep one to get back to 5 but you could tell he was hunting another one still down 5 before he turned it over for an easy dunk. Zero excuse for not getting it to Garza on that possession to make it a one score game.

I like when Jordan is hunting shots. For him it’s a mentality thing.
with that being said: hunting shots is easier off the ball once in awhile. Why can’t Fran play him a little with joe?

I agree with you but also with others on Joe T.'s erratic play. It's almost to the point where you can predict what a few minutes of JT will look like. Couple of good hustle plays + a good assist. Next we see the greased shoes act for a travel followed by a forearm shiver foul and then a couple of drives to nowhere that end badly. In comes Connor. As much as I am pulling for JT, he doesn't seem to be figuring anything out in year 2.

We should have sacrificed games earlier in the year to either give Joe T a shot to prove himself or rule him out. The 5 minute pull in 2nd half did neither the team or Joe T any favors.

Feel like we are in limbo, we know we need athletic guards in spots but no idea what lever to press. Seemed Fran was flailing a bit with rotations today.

Ideally Wieskamp and Fredrick should have taken some of those shots in the second half, but unfortunately they both disappeared. Cockburn did a great job on Garza so that pretty much leaves Jordan as the only option. He rushed a couple shots, but I don’t have many complaints with his decisions down the stretch
in Weezy's defense, Ayo was LITERALLY all over him most of the game. (I think) Actually, all of IL's guards were just relentless on Defense....

I said during the Nebraska game, put Joe in and just let him shoot 3s......

And why would we expect anything from JoeT other than what he always does?
some assists, some TOs, a lot of chaotic dribbling, slipping and sliding, poor shooting, in exchange for chaotic defense

What kind of scotch? 🥃 Tonight is Joseph Magnus single barrel bourbon for me.
Omg, I love Joseph Magnus...great choice, awesome drink. I was drinking Glenlivet, 14 year old. When I do vodka, it’s Belvedere, Grey Goose or Tito’s. I really don’t drink anything except vodka or scotch.
Cheers!

Maybe, but he started all of last year and didn’t seem to learn from it. I don’t like picking on young kids, and I’m sure and hope he’ll be great someday. But I hoped he would play smarter in a game as important as this one, and not let his bad instincts control his moves.

Joe and Pmac work well together.... can tell they get most their practice reps together.... get PMac in the weight room and buy Joe some shoes with tread on them.... he sure slips a lot

Good point. I don't know whether Joe T. can be more than a 5-6 minute guy projecting ahead. What does appear to be evident is that Joe T. is best equipped to push tempo and play with guys like Pmac and Murray who can get out in transition / run the baseline for Joe T. feeds. Dynamics next year could change without Garza being the focal point.

Part of me looks at other big ten guards that struggled to reign in their natural instincts to showcase their flashy dribbling and go 100 mph without a plan and how they developed into leaders. Watts for MSU comes to mind as does Buie for NW. One could say Trice for WI came in as a bit of a project and developed into one of the best in the big ten. It's a double-edged sword for JT. I think he is trying so hard to earn more PT by making plays that he is forcing things vs. letting the game come to him and picking his spots.
